I recently got the new WDTV Live and have been trying out several Netflix HD/5.1 titles (my former devices only supported 2.0). The WDTV is connected via HDMI to my Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver. The receiver does display Dolby + while playing these. It shows PLII for 2.0 audio.

So far, I've found two titles with audio issues with the DD+5.1:

The weird Robin Williams movie Toys. It started out sounding OK, but then became obvious that the dialog is coming out of the left surround!

Another odd movie, Mars. The audio is basically only in the front-right, and is out of sync.

I have been watching War of the Arrows, and it's fine, as are a few others I tried.

Anyone else notice this, or is it something with my setup?

Yes, you're correct the sound on Toys is misconfigured. The dialog is emitting from the surround speakers and the ambient sound effects are coming out of the center and front speakers. Your WDTV Live is working fine. It is a DD+ encoding but screwed up.
