Does anyone here use this?
From what I can see, it's totally free on the Xbox 360 and gives you an OK selection of movies and shows. Most of them are older or obscure, but there's still some decent stuff to watch.
The only downside is the constant advertisements when you watch something.
Any other fans?

I've used it occasionally. To me it's a lot like Hulu's movie channel. I don't use it exclusively, but it's nice to have without any other alternative.

The ads are necessary to keep the service free.

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!

I watch Crackle with my Roku box,its got some good movies and as you say, most are fairly obscure.Yes there are ads but they're not nearly as long and obnoxious as what we see on 'regular' tv.

I think Crackle is also on many Sony devices. It's on my TV and BD players.

Do they add new content frequently?
I think it's a great alternative and have only recently begun to play around with it.
Anything good or noteworthy to check out on this service?

I wish Sony would create an app for it for their very own PS3. I'd use it alot more if they'd move it off that crummy browser.

Dazed and confused over high tech.

They seem to cycle movies in and out around once a month. They eventually return after some months. One thing I did notice is that at the same time the movies are on Crackle is the same time some of them are being broadcast on local OTA tv. You can and should sign up for an account at the Crackle website. This way you don't get the annoying verification age pop up. And they send you a news letter to your email once a week letting you know about some of the movies on the site and about the movies that are about to leave the service.

I was under the impression that Crackle streaming resolution maxed out at 480p...which can look a little rough on a large projection screen but probably looks okay on something smaller.

I don't know if this is right, but my AVR(Denon 2310CI),with its HDMI resolution set to "auto" shows the incoming streaming resolution at 1080i.

On my web browser it does max out at 480p but it's a damn good encode.

^^^ makes me wonder if the Roku XS2 upscales video. My Roku has a direct connection (HDMI) to the AVR, i set the receiver to "auto" to detect the resolution of the incoming signal, and it shows 1080i.confused.gif I'll have to re-check my settings, maybe i made a mistake.

THe picture is generally good on my Xbox 360, but you can definitely tell that the commercials are fuzzy and blocky haha.

The scalers on a device can make a difference. The scaler on my Sony player is better than the one on the Samsung. A lot of DVDs I play these days look very good upscaled. I've only watched the opening of a movie on Crackle because their app was a little awkward and I was so used to clicking on an icon like you do in Netflix and getting the summary and from there running the movie. Instead the movie was launched and info was by selecting Options instead on the Gallery.
