It's not entirely true that you can't get live sports thru the internet using a media player. I have a Roku 2XS with Playon installed on my laptop. With the use of certain plugins/scripts i have installed on the Playon platform i can watch Baseball,Basketball,Football(they even have NFL redzone),Soccer,Wrestling,Boxing, and MMA all "LIVE" as they happen. They even show cool stuff like professional Dart throwing, and professional Pool playing contests(you can't get those with cable/sat.), usually from the UK. Today for example, i have my choice of 12 diff. football games, 6 diff.basketball games,6 soccer games and 2 professional Dart throwing contests if i so choose to watch, plus other scheduled sports events from around the world,'course i only watch those foreign events that are broadcast in English. Am also able to watch certain PPV games.Last week i watched a PPV WWE wrestling event that normally cost $45.00 but i was able to watch for free.Yesterday i watched the WBA heavyweight championship boxing match:Klitchko vs.Wach fight from Hamburg,Germany,"LIVE",i'll bet that wasn't on cable/sat.,unless it was a PPV event. I used to have Dish satellite that cost me $96.00/mo.,but i "cut the cord" and now i only pay for Netflix, and Hulu plus, which costs me a whopping $16.00/mo. i also use Vudu, and Amazon from time to time, and have about 15 other free sources for movies, documentaries, and other tv programs over the internet that i watch now and then. I also get "LIVE" news, ie;CNN,MSNBC,and FoxNewsLive, plus i can also get my current local weather forecast. Oh, if religion is your thing, then you can find tons of it streaming on the internet, all for free. I don't feel that i'm missin' a thing by dropping pay tv. IF i were interested in the current prime time fare offered by the big four networks,i also have a small antenna hanging in my window for OTA reception those channels, all in HD of course. So when you read/hear people say that you "CAN'T" get this,or you "CAN'T" get that w/o cable/sat.....well,IMO those people are..... misinformed.
