Amazon reportedly is collecting content, cable and related apps for the planned rollout of a set-top box in the fourth quarter that would compete with Roku, Boxee and Apple TV, among other streaming device manufacturers.

It will be interesting to see if this box supports Amazon "Your Watchlist".

Why wouldn't their own box support it? Others already do.

I'll expect this device to be heavily discounted, with direct tie-in to the Amazon marketplace so you can do all your shopping on your TV.

Neither my Blu-ray player or smart TV Amazon app support Your Watchlist. Don't remember if the iPad does or not. No Amazon app at all on Windows 8 or WD Live.

Besides streaming, I hope this box will have some media player capabilities.

You can bet the box will be inter active (maybe a camera in it ? ) now we will be able to shop from our PC's ,Tablets, smart phones and now our TV's , Next will be Amazon connections to internet connected
refrigerators for grocery delivery after that they will figure out how to get a camera in our pantries to keep them provisioned as well ! I'm drawing the line at my sock and underwear drawer ,bathroom too eek.gif Already have Amazon prime linked the PC's , PS3 and HTPC.

! On second thought I won't get one of their boxes everything here except the fridge is already connected rolleyes.gif

The soviets used to keep their TV's off if they were talking about something they wanted to keep private, they feared the KGB might be watching them through their TV sets true story! . Now 30 yrs later we are all connected and all of our devices , Google ,Microsoft , Amazon ,facebook ,telco's Webcams ,and NSA are all watching us ! KGB could have only in their wildest dreams contemplate that level of surveillance ! FSB has to be envious Imagine that. eek.gif

Roku, ios, samsung tv's, sony tv's, PS3, xbox 360 have it. I would imagine that their own Kindle Fire's have them, but ive never used one.

Edit: here is a list

Cool thanks for posting the list I wonder how and if Amazon gets the HDCP compliance info from a PC with an discrete HDCP compliant video card added in especially if you have 2 screens on
one being an HDTV with HDMI to TV connection and the other a LCD monitor on VGA . ofc the Amazon stream would be going to the TV . . maybe turn off the VGA screen that is displaying desktop? I'll have check it out. Netflix is still slow to ramp up to HD here anyway it seems.
Actually I read some of the links you provided seem like Silverlight DRM status is visible to Amazon so I Imagine thats what they use.

best regards.
