A friend gave me his old Disney Moviebeam complete setup. Of course Moviebeam hasnt been around for sometime now, but I'd like to turn the unit into a DVR.

Anyone have any ideas on the subject?

Using it as a DVR would be difficult. It got new movies over the NTSC RF input, but it did so via a very slow data stream that was embedded on the local KPBS station. It would be hard to get video to it and you would still have to gain control over software to let you record and playback. Mine was sitting in the garage and I just plugged it in for kicks..... which got me doing a little searching to see how much access people were able to get to it.... not much.

Thanx for the info, but I ripped it apart awhile back and tossed the rest.

The standard def and RF out kill it right there, if you ask me. Some old technology is so old, you basically have to scrap it and start over.
