Going above and beyond the current standard for premium viewing, Full HD, JVC has announced its Super Hi-Vision D-ILA projector, the first of its kind in the world. This projector features a contrast ratio of 5500:1 and the ability to render a video with a 35 megapixel resolution due to the D-ILA display system.

By using what JVC refers to as Adaptive pixel correlation technology, this projector can apparently save up to 50% power and 60% in lamp costs. And it can display purported 10,000 lumens of brightness from the single three-thousand Watt lamp. No pricing or availability information is available as of yet.

JVC debuts 8K / 4K prototype camcorders, moviemakers drool

Quote:

Aw, snap. Just when you thought the 4K market couldn't get any more dominated by RED and the gang, along comes JVC to shake things up. For reasons unknown, the company has chosen now (and not a few weeks back at NAB) to unleash its prototype 4K and 8K camcorders, both of which boast D-ILA technology and can capture clips at a downright mind-blowing 8,912 x 4,320 or 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. There's also a more "compact" sibling which does 4K only, but even it provides plenty of pixels to zoom and pan in unprecedented clarity on. So JVC -- you, us, CEDIA 2009. It's a date, cool?

Refering to my post troglobite? This regarding the new camera's, 4K was announced for next year(NAB) delivery at the show, according to what I read, the 8K was announced in a release last week, together with the 4K. The release says delivery starting in 2009.

As for the prototype projector. It was a proof of concept last year, may still make it into a commercial product, or JVC may keep developing it, no info release on that, so who knows...

I hope that one is still in development. Add a super bright LASER, LED or Plasma light source with some top notch optics, we're talking about a serious projector!

There are two projectors as the result of two different projects.

1 The Super Highvision
It started out as 4x4K with 2x4K panels which were off set half a pixel diagonally to create a pseudo 8K projector. Now that true 8K panels are develped the projector has matured to a 3x8K design, one for each primary color.

2 The Super Highcontrast
Late last year it used 3x4K panels for color modulation. A fourth panel at 8K was introduced to manipulate the brigtness level in one extra step and thus dramatically incrasing the contrast to 1.1M:1
