Just wondering if you all think that most or all of the big summer blockbusters this summer will have a 4k DCP, such as Thor, new Pirates movie, Captain America, etc.

Not sure I want to go out of my way to see a movie in DLP 4k or Sony 4k if there is no 4k DCP.

This weekend I am especially torn. I hate 3d so I won't be seeing Thor in IMAX or XD. But I could pay $3.50 for a matinee at a theater fairly close to me that will show it DLP 2k.

Or I could pay $7-8 for DLP 4k or Sony 4k at other theaters where I have to drive a bit more (15 extra miles way for what I think has dlp 4k, 30 miles each way extra for what I know has Sony 4k).

Hard to find any title that is released in 4K.

If this is all there is (?); Digital Cinema 4K Movie Releases , then there is no reason to go out of your way to catch 4K releases.

Sucks if that is the only list out there considering it only lists Sony movies...

My local theater seems to have 4k projectors. Beats my home HD. The added color depth is great also. Don't know if the films are 4k or upconverted 2k but I really like it. Seems if a film is going to be distributed digitally, why not in 4k. A definite reason to go to the movies.

Unfortunately until now only Sony provided 4K DCP: The only 4K DCP other than Sony was "True Grit" from Universal, and it was impossibile to show it in 4K in Sony SXRD projectors due to an error in Technicolor DCP mastering.
