Could someone who has seen one in action describe the pq gains of a laser pj compared to the Xenon bulb type? It's prolly been said but how many foot lamberts are these throwing on say a 90 or 100ft screen compared to the dual Christie setup in use now? Thanks

So Marc, are you guys going to be using Kodak's laser tech in all of your pjs or just he Imax theater pjs? The Kodak demo a year and a half ago was one I really wished I could have seen.

Current projector - JVC RS25 and Marantz VP15S1
Future projector - pre-ordered new JVC from AVScience

Barco has its own Laser tech. It is probably superior to Kodak. I believe Imax may share some Kodak secrets...

Thanks Marc. Pretty impressive for a 90ft screen. What are the other advantages in this design besides saving money on bulbs and the brightness increase?

More brightness, better color saturation, always focused, no lamp explosion/replacement.

I stand corrected. Here are the real numbers:

The demo was shown on a 70 foot (21.3M) wide Harkness matte screen (1.0 gain) at a light level of 22fL. 22 fL on a gain 1.0 screen area of 2,560 sq. ft. (238M2), corresponds to 56,980 Lumens.

To bad the links to the Kodak Laser projector demo AVS reports are all dead (except the YouTube videos).
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1300265

Can they be restored?

Since I am looking at purchasing the DP4K-23B, can this projector have its lamp house swapped out down the road for a laser light source?

Thanks!

this will give you the answer
http://displaydaily.com/2012/02/08/i...-laser-cinema/

see down the importent part but read it all its good to know.
and think again about the b32 if you one day like to sale it you need the
b32 as 90% like to buy this unit.

down i like to add
-reduce speckle as well at a harkness matt preview screen!

Barco listed the challenges as:
o Regulatory issues
o Cost
o Retrofit design issues to allow the lasers to replace an existing xenon lamp and power supply
o Speckle on a silver screen

I don't, especially if Barco can incorporate Kodaks polarisation technology. But even if it doesn't it would mean he has to downsize his current projectors to get a good working passive set-up.

You are probably correct. But whichever set-up has the ultimate in pq he will surely choose. What do I know tho.
