cool.gifcool.gif I think it is great. A small speaker company showed these for the past 3-5 years at CINEMACON on an 8 by 16 foot static display.
If the speakers sound good, and they should, it's an easy way for Christie to A) monetize on the house brand whilst B) elevating the art a bit above the generally accepted level of mediocrity; this while contributing stabs to the multi-pronged, multi-vendor, all out campaign for a piece of the IMAX EXPERIENCE pie. Well done.

In no uncertain terms is C letting IMAX know that what it did with BARCO would go un-dealt-with. If Barco can do great sounding theaters so can Christie now (the old fashioned way).

And who is mixing with these? Who makes them for Christie? What theater in LA has them?

Ah! that!

Small details- sound designer's intentions and standards !!!................... not.

However without overreach you don't achieve progress, Christie is a big girl, they should yank out Hans Zimmer's $300,000 Quested Mastering 5.1 rig and replace it with "them ribbens".

HA HA, an indefensible bad idea , just kidding!

Interesting, they use a j-shaped line arrays, like the constant beamwidth speakers from Keele that minimize differences in level at different distances. The Christie brochure says that they can have most of the audience fall within a ±2dB range throughout the auditorium.
