Sounds promising but the lack of HDCP is a problem. Guessing it will be at CEDIA ?

Since this is meant as a simulation projection, doubt Barco will care to add on HDCP, well unless NEC do make that input

It is listed under corporate AV on the link Wolfgang provided, not Simulation. Still no incentive to add HDCP.

Barco sourcing OEM projectors where has the world come to;-).

Well this is not the first time Years ago there's Graphic4000 which is OEMed from panasonic and after that Barco built their own two lamp projector's design. I believe the next LCOS series projector will be based from the SIM7 series

The list price on those Christies seemed inflated to me, as the HD 8K 'maximum price our sellers may ask' at introduction was (well) into the D-Cinema range pricing. The 5K (6K) was 20K Euro less, and the notch filter would add either 5K or was it 8K to the regular projector's price. All ex-VAT.

Would that 80-90K euro be in or excluding VAT? Barco would list their products excluding VAT, but you might have already added it in you mind.

Anybody got any further info on that 5K x 2K Meridian branded projector that was supposed to be demoed in Seattle. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...#post13996834?

This seems to be it http://www.definitive.com/, yet to take place, I see. Accroding to the wording on the website it seems to be the same (little over) 4K chip as used by JVC/Barco, so nothing extraordinary there.

I wouldn't get too excited, if the Barco LX5 is the JVC4K then it will be useless for home theater applications. For home or personal use, the JVC 4K is available exclusively from Meridian Audio. The Pro JVC 4K is calibrated for the simulation market not home theater so it would need to be optimuzed for home theater.

Lastly and most importantly, the JVC4K has only a short throw lens for the 4K, since that's what simulation requires, no other lens option is available. The long throw lens is only available from Meridian.

The Merdian 4K will be optmized by William Phelps

The above may only be for JVC US, it may not be applicable outside the US

I have seen the JVC 4k and it cannot hold a candle to the dlp Barco's in terms of image dynamics (ansi), apparent resolution (still a bit on the soft side) and colorimetry.

Where this projector shines is in recreating tiny little runway lights on a flight simulator from 66-7 miles away on a landing.

We did a z lamp adjustment on the barco at helene and it went from 15 foot lamberts to 23, there is tremendous vibrancy to the image . The LCOS does not have that punch.

The JVC Pro 4K projector will be available for the US in the home theater market. One well known baseball player in NY is scheduled to be receiving one as soon as it's available.

Not unless the Manuf. Rep for JVC Pro is incorrect. I'm sure for that kind of money it will happen. Money talks. Maybe JVC Pro will switch it around. Maybe it will be a Meridian modified unit? But there was no mention of it at time. We'll see what shows up.

Half joking and half seriously I ask what kind of gamma setting the JVC used when you viewed the projector. With all the recent accounts of how much the image changes with the RS2 going from a standard 2.2 to a 2.4-2.5 I thought I should ask.

If William Phelps could provide a custom gamma of 2.4, his known uniformity tweak and calibrated colors it should have potential. Peter it even has a xenon lamp!

I think we'll be seeing some nice S shaped curve options on some of these new units.

its not top priority for me to see this unit side by side with the
big barco dp 2000 because

-i need to solve some problems with the dlp pr. and that can take 4 weeks.
-i need to work bit more with my cinema server i got and all the material i have.
-my doctor told me step down a bit and i know how many action always that tests have

than i also get used to the good 35 ftl on my 7m screen and if the 4k have in best case
3500 lumen i end up with 12 ftl with a new lamp and soon much less than 10 ftl.

when you get used to such a level off ftl i dont know anybody that can go back to a dimm picture and dimm means for me 20 ftl and less.
i thought when i got this big barco cinema dlp it will be to bright for 2d movies because the min.
i can have with a new lamp if i dim the 4000 watt xenon max. down ist about
35 ftl.but now i feel bad if i have not more than 30 ftl!!!

i reach now almost 100 hours and i now increase the lamp power from 2400watt to about 2700 watt to keep it at 35 ftl

and one reason more is for me how good the barco can do in full 2048x1080
my 3d still pictures flicker free at 144hz.
this picture looks so good with the cristal eye shutter that i do not think
only the 4 times resolution makes such a advantages if
you have so many disatvantages if you like to do 3d without the dlp system.
