I did a search and did not find any threads on this particular unit. Nor does it appear to get any votes either way in the best/worst sticky.

I downloaded the manual and it seems to have a number of handy features for my needs including a universal remote that offers basic TV on/off and volume. Has analog pass thru and the manual I downloaded seems pretty straightforward.

Can be had locally for $40 (free w/ coupon).

I would appreciate any comments on this unit - thanks!

I'm afraid you're the only one to mention it.

Casti Cax sounds like an odd name for a converter box, heh. Do they even have a marketing dept ??

i've done a lot of research on as many cecb boxes i could find but i've never even heard of CASTI....sorry....it might be best to stay away from this one?

if youre looking for $40 (free w/coupon) try the Artec T3AP at

https://secure.freetvsignal.com/viewAll.php

.....'*Artec T3AP converter box $40.00. Free Shipping to all 50 states including Puerto Rico, Guam, and The Virgin Islands. This box is completely FREE when you use your government coupons.'

update>
i looked at the CASTi CAX-03 manual and it does look very good on paper> it has some control buttons on the box, most other cecb's have none....the universal remote is a rare/nice feature and it looks to be well laid out....and the remote has channel FLASHBACK, which i think is essential....etc etc

the screen shots in the manual look identical to my Artec T3AP box....maybe its a clone of it? if so it should be ok.....my Artec T3AP works well.....

so the CASTi CAX-03 looks very promising, on paper anyways....see if u can find a forum where u can read some 'real world' user reviews on it....

Well Here is the CASi product page.
It is in Korean (.kr).
I couldn't find this box there though.

CASTi = Cast Information Co.
CASTi makes these for Daytek and Zentech to distribute rebranded

They have a website for just the CECB product line here.

CAX-03 UPC = 8-84372-00503-6

CASTi Service Center
13115 Barton Road Suite E
Whittier, CA 90605
Tel 877-685-8443
Tel 562-941-7001
Fax 562-946-7445
Support@CASTiConverter.com

The stores I found it in mostly listed it as discontinued.
That can't be good...

Various Info:

MPEG Decoder = LG LGDT1111D (CAX-01)
Tuner = LG (Innotek) TDVG-H052F (CAX-01,03)
Tuner = Sanyo UB110AP (CAX-04)
The CAX-02 seems to be a bit of a mystery.

The government lists these like this

Approved & Available:
CASTi CAX-03

Approved & Not Available
CASTi CAX-01
CASTi CAX-02
Daytek CAX-01
Daytek CAX-03

Additional government list

Her is the:

I bought a CAX-03 analog to digital coverter box in September but it died on me in March. Doesn't work anymore and the power light doesn't even go on. Yes, I tried another outlet that works for something else. So do NOT buy one!

What did you expect with a name like Casti Cax ?

Casti implies "to cast" and Cax sounds like the ooze Jar-Jar Binks stepped in.

This unit Really stinks. It cuts power so frequently you can try to watch tv for days on end and you won't be able to. The system work fine at first, but has become a decorative piece of junk.
