Target has the APEX DT502 and Winegard on sale for $40 until June 6th. It appears to be Nationwide and TAX free in PA and other States.

The Winegard and the Venturer are the same box, right? Just different names printed on them.

Personal opinion: the Venturer box is OK unless you want a dedicated aspect button on the remote instead of having to go through the menus, or unless you want a TV power button on the remote.

The ad may show a Venturer box, but the ad reads "All Converter Boxes" are $45. My local has the Apex DT502 as well.

I love the digital transition. The voices in my head just say 0 and 1 now.

yes, u are correct....i retrieved the ad from the recycle bin to check....i didnt notice that it said ALL boxes...the photo of the VENTURER box dominates the ad.....

and freetvsignal.com still has the 'free after coupon' ARTEC offer....i have that one and it works well......

Ther Venturer and Winegard are the same box, both have great reception, and with a kit from solidsignal.com can operate on 6 D cell batteries. Menus are similar to the Zenith/Insignia boxes. I have two Venturer boxes and they work great.

In case you haven't seen my post "Warning: Target's STB7766C = DTA800B1", watch out for almost identical looking boxes that have the model number STB7766C (as in "Cow"). They are NOT updates of the "G" or "G1" models.

I'm not able to find these boxes at any Target. Target.com says it's an instore only item, I went to the store and it wasn't there. I had the person look up other stores to see who had it and the store listing 31 had none. I'm frustrated as hell. The other one they sell is the Apex Digital which they have plenty of. I've only seen mediocre and bad reviews for this model. I may have to go with the freetvsignal.com deal.

There is a difference between the DT250 (A) and the DT502. If you were to check, most issues are with the DT250 (A).

So, Systems2000, which box do you like better at this point, the DT502 or the Zinwell? Got my second coupon to burn

If you have a fixed or "SMART" antenna, want a "FULL" EPG (2 weeks +), and could use S-Video try the DT502.

If you need "TIMERS" (the DT502 has reminders) and don't mind "Next/Now" EPG with no description (Zinwells biggest drawback), get the ZAT-970A.

Reception wise, they both perform the same for me. They both treat "Parental Control" the same and they both have "Recall" buttons. I like the "Favorites" grouping of the ZAT-970A, although I like the "Favorites" UP and DOWN buttons on the DT502. The DT502 has an internal power supply and a metal case, while the ZAT-970A uses a brick and has a plastic case. I consider the remotes for both units, "TOP NOTCH."

I'm on the verge of tossing my Insignia -APT, since I now have multiples of the DT502, ZAT-970A, and Sunkey SK-801ATSC. Keeps me from having remote conflicts.

Checkout my comparison link below.
