Does anyone have specific setup instructions to do this?
i've seen detailed instructions with similar cecb and one that said "dtx9950 works with pioneer codes"... but i can't get it to work.

in the setup, i select antenna and "cable with a box"
it asked if i subscribed to digital service and i tried all choices.

i selected the two digit channel changing method and also three.
for the three and four digit choices, i chose "can't go that high"

for the remote, you can't enter the code directly ( i found that the code is 10013-B ? ) i chose the pioneer, zenith, LG, radio shack, and some others...

the ir blaster is directly in front of the dtx9950. about 2 inches. is there a minimum distance it needs to be from the unit?

anyway, it seems from what i read that this should be working. maybe i'm missing something crucial? if someone can help, i appreciate!

Also, i assume since i'm hooking the box up via red, white, yel through IN3, that I can't get the tvgos. If that's not correct, please let me know how i should set up so that i can get it.

Thanks!

I could never get my Digital Stream CECB to work with my DVR. I bought a Zenith CECB instead, and that worked, with some fussing.

The CM-7000 works quite nicely with a Panny DVDR, I'm not positive one way or another about the DS.
Note with the CM you're not going to be able to tune to single digit sub channels other than the .1 channel. IOW no automatic switching to something like 2.2, I think?? the Zenith may be the same problem. The reason is the EH-55 doesn't send out a . command and it also doesn't send leading zeros. To go to something like 17.3 you would send out 173 which the CM recognizes as 17.3
"Fussing" is putting it mildly Setting the whole thing up is quite trying but the results are worth it.

At 2 inches the blaster needs to be directly in front of the sensor window of the convertor box.

yeah, i guess i have to look around for a zenith or CM. Although I saw somewhere on this forum that someone said the DS dtx9950 worked with pioneer codes. but that was all they said...

I'm right that there is no way to get the tvgos info to the DVR, right?

@jjeff yeah, I saw another post where someone said they were able to access sub channels like that but I haven't been able to try...

Only the DTV Pal CECB and I guess at least one Artec model is advertised to be able to convert the digital TVGOS to analog for a device like your EH-55.
The DTV Pal is the most popular and your market must be broadcasting the digital TVGOS signal. You can check Trip's Website to see if your market has the digital TVGOS signal. The Pal while not being the sharpest of CECBs also works with your IR blaster.

Speaking of that, does anybody here know offhand which of the many "TVGOS recorder with CECB" threads on this forum has the most thorough and precise information on setting up the EH55 with the DTV Pal?

I'm trying to get the TVGOS conversion feature to work, now that I can receive CBS digital here, but for the life of me, I can't get the recorder's IR blaster to correctly change channels on the Pal (and I've tried all the Sci. Atl. codes - it's just tricky as heck, and I can't get the whole TVGOS setup configuration right).

This master TVGOS Thread seems to have a lot of information although I don't know specifically if it addresses the Pal and EH-55.
Of course you probably already know all about the Pal threads although I don't know how specific they get AFA the EH-55.
When you find out please let me know. Everyday that goes by I lose one more day of TVGOS I really loath the idea of replacing my CM-7000 with a Pal but if that's what it takes I may just purchase one. It seems everyone who has tried the conversion says it's not exactly easy
Here's a Link to my local forum where a guy was trying to setup his Pal although he doesn't have a EH-55 but rather a TV with V7 TVGOS.

just wanted to post that i finally got the eh55 working with the dtx9950
For the manufacturer of the box, select americast.
been working fine. i didn't figure out if i can make it do the subchannels yet but i suspect not. Also, seems to have trouble recording different channels back to back so, i recommend setting them a few minutes in between.

but anyway, it's working...

Yes Back to Back (BTB) events(on different channels) don't work very well. It has to do with the way the EH-55 blasts the IR signal. For normal events it blasts the IR ~30 seconds prior to the event, then a couple seconds prior to the event it blasts again, this works fine.
With BTB events it blasts the first time 5 seconds to the start of the second event, then almost immediately it blasts again. Since the EH-55 doesn't blast a ENTER the 2 nearly consecutive blasts are taken as one long single blast from your CECB. Thus a blast of 11 turns out to be 1111 which is a invalid channel and depending on your converter box it just may reject it and stay on it's current channel. I've found you must separate your BTB events by a minimum of 2 minutes. It's not ideal to lose either the last minutes of your first show or the first 2 minutes but most of my shows tend to have commercials for the last few minutes so I choose clipping the last 2 minutes of the previous show so I don't lose the first 2 of the next event.
