I received a DTV Pal for Christmas 2008 and finally hooked it up last Sunday, 6/14/2009. It seems to work so far, but noticed a few strange minor things.

Why is it after a few days of not using the TV and DTV Pal converter (always plugged into power) and I turn on my dTV Pal, I get nothing on my TV and computer screens (hooked up to both)? I see DTV Pal's green power light. When clicking on remote control buttons, light does not blink to register my pressings like in normal working behavior. I assume it froze, crashed, or something. I unplugged the power and reconnected, and had to wait for DTV Pal to start up. This happened twice already.

Do I have a defective unit or a bad version (need to upgrade its firmware or something?)? Here is a screen capture of the DTV Pal version information: from my computer's TV tuner card.

Here's my setup: DTV Pal connected to a DB2 bowtie antenna and a VCR. The VCR is connected to an old 1996 CRT TV and an old TV tuner card in my PC.

Is anyone else having this problem too? Is there a good forum/mailing list for DTV Pal?

Thank you in advance.
