Its playing fine on my PS3 but mine is always updated to the latest. Can't you update yours? I know new BDs sometime needs newer firmware for the player that they are being played on. That might be the case for you.

It played wonderfully on my PS3 and holds the standard for best sound I've ever heard from a Dvd, blu ray or other wise; new codec or old; simply the best use of sound I've ever heard.

I tried an experiment and set the AVR to auto-decode, PS3 to bitstream and attemped the three foreign DD's in set-up. Same thing, goes right back to set-up menu. I'm calling BB and ask them if they have the ability to test this disc.

I saw the exact same bug* with Valkyrie on a PS3 today. After updating the firmware, I was allowed to play the movie.

* it's not really fair to call it a bug if it's the intentional, if confusing, behavior of the format/player, which won't always allow you to play your movies, and leaves you wondering whether it's a defect in the hardware, media, or software.

I don't know how old your firmware is, but for reference, the PS3 I played with today was on 2.5.(.1 or .7, can't remember).

Oddly, both these discs play just fine on my computer, with whatever freebie version of Cyberlink's player that came with my Blu-ray drive.

they jump out of the plane and the air is rushing by, my surrounds really did a good job of this scene and I could even feel air moving in the room, probably from my sub. Really cool effect.

Air moving in your room. Now that's an ultimate experience right there.

I up-graded the software to 2.76. I almost canceled the up-grade because I did not notice that the PS3 had a right arrow pointing to the right, to ask me to accept the Sony agreement. I hit cancel button and the PS3 told me not to do it. When I went to the right, I accepted to agreement and everything was OK. I can watch Quantum now, SWEET. Now I am am gonna buy a new Denon receiver.

Wait till you hear the soundtrack in it's intended form; advanced codecs rule this disc. Best sound I've ever experienced.

This disc was not even close to the best sound I have experienced, but I respect your opinion. Even between just this and Casino Royale, I thought overall CR was superior in the audio category. The sky-dive sequence was the highlight IMO and that truly was very impressive, but nothing else matched this moment from a sonic level IMO.

I have to agree with you. I find CASINO ROYALE to be more impressive an audio presentation than QUANTUM. While QUANTUM is robust, I find it lacking in fine details. The quieter, more subtle moments in QUANTUM along with the music score isn't the same quality as CASINO ROYALE.

Guess you guys are right. When I saw Casino Royale I didn't have the set up I have now and didn't have advanced codec capabilities. Will have to rent Casino Royale again for sure.

Obviously this is just my opinion and you may or may not agree (audio is SO subjective) but check out the audio tier thread in the bluray section....anything in the reference tier IMO has better overall sound than QOS and quite a few in tier 0 as well (Man On Fire, I-Robot, Domino, Casino Royale to name a few that come to mind without looking at the tier 0 list), even tier 1 has a few that surpass QOS (somehow Underworld is in tier 1???). Just my opinion though...you may listen to all of these and say "those guys are nuts!....QOS sounds the best"

I'm in S Florida and we are getting SOAKED. Good news is I had BB $1.99 coupons, and will be watching C.R. & Q.o.S. back to back, and I picked Valkyrie & My Bloody Valentine 3D to watch after golf today. Tomorrow "INDY". And as a bonus the wife told me to upgrade my Sherwood Newcastle R-965 to a new high-end Denon, SWEET! Yes, them are Thiel CS-5I's!!!

Yep, the water level steady cam across the water to the opening chase sequence was without a doubt the best part of the movie. Too bad the rest couldn't have been as well done. In my opinion, this movie was a case of action dictating the story rather than the story dictating the action. Don't get me wrong, I love Bond movies and action but I think Casino Royale proved that "less is more" and it's a shame that QOS didn't borrow more from that success.
