This probably has to be the grandest release ever in BR history i think? Definitely for collectors.

Just amazone'd it and the list price is $89.99. Not bad for a 9 disc box.

Cheers

I've even heard internet rumors of 3D versions in the works for theaters that; if true, would of course mean special edition home versions.

I preordered all 6 myself from Amazon. ;-)

“THE BEST NEW SHOW ON TV”
– ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT RELEASES
“THE WALKING DEAD:
The Complete First Season”

MARCH 8, 2011

Beverly Hills, CA – Take a walk on the undead side, as the groundbreaking, genre-bending AMC® original series “THE WALKING DEAD” rises again when Anchor Bay Entertainment releases the Blu-ray™ and DVD of the hit show that wowed both critics and audiences. The SRP for the March 8 release is $49.99 for the Blu-ray™, and $39.98 for the DVD. Both the “THE WALKING DEAD: The Complete First Season” Blu-ray™ and DVD contain all 6 episodes of the first season on a 2-disc set and are packed with special behind-the-scenes featurettes and insightful extra footage.

Nominated for a Golden Globe® for Best Television Series - Drama, “THE WALKING DEAD: The Complete First Season” breathes new life into the zombie genre as it unfolds a post-apocalyptic saga that follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln, Love Actually), who searches for a safe haven and, hopefully, a new home, far from the undead that now roam the earth hungry for human flesh. Each episode explores the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies, and the toll it takes on the survivors who now find themselves going to extremes just to see another day. In this horrific world gone mad, each turn brings new surprises and dangers, as the survivors try to regain some semblance of a normal life.

“THE WALKING DEAD” is based on the popular Image Comics’ comic book written by Robert Kirkman. The series premiered on AMC Fearfest Halloween night and immediately became the most watched drama series in cable’s history among Adults 18-49 with 3.5 million viewers. HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - The wildly compelling chronicle of one of the pioneers of Internet commerce comes home on Blu-ray and DVD when MIDDLE MEN arrives on February 15, 2011 from Paramount Home Entertainment. That is, until he gets involved with two troubled geniuses (Giovanni Ribisi, Avatar; Gabriel Macht,
The Spirit) who need business advice on getting their Internet scheme off the ground. watching TMZ, folks there referred to a release of a new/remade for 3-D movie TITANIC on the 100 year anniversary
of it sinking. so I guess we will have to wait for it to come out on Bluray until then.
unless they release the 2-D BR just for Christmas along with a announcement of the movie being
re-released in 3-D. anyone else heard anything?

I still prefer the original Jurassic Park rather than The Lost Word or JP III. When i first saw it released the special effects were simply amazing. Then the second one came and thought it was ok. Third release was pretty much down the toilet.

The only way i'd avoid double dipping on this is if Ralph gives it a score of 100.

I agree JamE55. I didn't mind the first 2 but cannot stand the third .

I believe Steven Spielberg recently stated that Jaws on bluray was also in the works. He didn't know the date but I believe it was in 2011 as well. That has always been my #1 title I've been waiting for.

Spielberg also said he was in favor of preserving his movies in their original state. No adding scenes (Hear him, Mr. Lucas?) or redoing CGI to improve the image quality. Wires not visible in SD may be in HD (his movie 1941 for example). If Lucas wanted to play with his movies post-release, why doesn't he get rid of those d@mn ewoks. If you viewed Star Wars from I through VI, what a let down those muppets would be.

Infamous last words: "Hold my beer. Watch this!"

That's not exactly true, but what really is true, is also
something Lucas could do, and doesn't.

The current Close Encounters BD has 3 versions on it,
with seamless branching. You chose the version at startup.
Two of those versions have added scenes.

Spielberg actually prototyped this approach with the
Criterion LaserDisc edition of CE3K. You had to program
your player with the chapter stops, and it wasn't
exactly seamless. But it showed more respect for
history and the audience than you get from George.

Found this film to be a little bit of Cloverfield'ish and E.T.'ish. Decent film overall.
