Jack Reacher

Best-Selling Author Lee Child’s Legendary Anti-Hero Bursts Onto the Screen in the Action-Packed Thrill Ride, Debuting on Blu-ray™ and DVD May 7, 2013

One of the most compelling heroes ever to step from novel to screen makes his highly-anticipated home entertainment debut when JACK REACHER blasts his way onto Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand on May 7, 2013 from Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film will be available for Digital Download on April 23rd. Tom Cruise tackles the title role with the brute force his character is known for and his “tightly controlled performance holds our attention all the way through to the tense finale” (Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News).

Based on best-selling author Lee Child’s wildly popular series of novels, JACK REACHER was adapted for the screen and directed by Academy Award®-winner Christopher McQuarrie (Best Original Screenplay, The Usual Suspects, 1995). Filled with heart-pounding action, thrills and a “killer chase scene” (Chris Vognar, Dallas Morning News), JACK REACHER is “hard-boiled detective story entertainment” (Richard Corliss, Time) that “will have you gasping in surprise at the velocity and ferocity of the action” (Marshall Fine, Huffington Post). The film also boasts “a top flight ensemble cast” (Claudia Puig, USA Today) including Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now), Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day), Werner Herzog (Rescue Dawn), David Oyelowo (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Richard Jenkins (The Cabin in the Woods) and Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard).

The JACK REACHER Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with UltraViolet™ is bursting with compelling bonus features including an in-depth look at Reacher’s journey to the screen, the filmmakers’ devotion to remaining true to the essence of the character and their drive to create an action-thriller that harkens back to the landmark films of the ‘70s. The combo pack also includes a look at the training and stunt choreography behind the gritty and intense fight sequences, an exploration of the Reacher phenomenon around the world with Lee Child, as well as commentaries by Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie and composer Joe Kraemer. The film will also be available as a single-disc DVD.

The Blu-ray release available for purchase will be enabled with UltraViolet, a new way to collect, access and enjoy movies. With UltraViolet, consumers can add movies to their digital collection in the cloud, and then stream or download them – reliably and securely – to a variety of devices.

JACK REACHER Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack:

700

The JACK REACHER Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, French 5.1 Dolby Digital, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, Portuguese 5.1 Dolby Digital and English Audio Description and English, English SDH, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. I assumed that it would be available on blu-ray so why is this news?

I've got a feeling maybe it should have gone straight to Blu Ray. Did anyone see this in the theaters? wink.gif

It did alright and got decent reviews. Not bad considering the awful decision to cast Tom Cruise in the role of the 6'5" 250 lb protagonist.

Of course I didn't see it in the theater since I don't go to our local crappy theaters. If we had a theater worth going to, I likely would have.

I agree. Although I think Cruise is a great actor and I enjoy his movies.

Ralph,
I appreciate the alert. Some scenes were shot a few houses away from my home. The production company was so cool. They paid mw for the use of my back yard and garages for a week. They were constantly bringing food to the door. Loved having them around. The neighborhood was filled with cabling and lighting. Good times.

Love for all things Hi-def...Losing count; 200 plus bluray, 500 plus dvd, 30 plus HDdvd and a rapidly growing 50 plus in the cloud.

That must have been fun to watch. It's amazing how much work goes into shooting just one scene in a movie!

Regards,

Yes, it was absolutely amazing at all of the sound panels and light controlled panels mounted all over a few yards to control a small area. The neighbors were put in a hotel for about 2 weeks while they repainted the first floor and "staged" the home. I live on a corner property and the side street is where my driveway opens to my garages. Not sure yet if my home is in any scenes at all but my home office section is in the sunroom end facing down the side street at the "scene"...so every morning while here i'd have full view of activities. I would have let them use my yard for free it was that "engaging" however I had no issue with the handsome rent they gave me. The scene is a little house with growth/foliage up and around the front porch bordering the front. Its a cute little home for my friends back there.

I did see Rossamund Pike pull up in a sweet silver Mercedes and enter the house. I think she plays an attorney. Anyway, I have heard its good. Some people are way too critical to early on. Its not "Lawrence of Arabia" for goodness sakes.

Always a pleasure guys!

Love for all things Hi-def...Losing count; 200 plus bluray, 500 plus dvd, 30 plus HDdvd and a rapidly growing 50 plus in the cloud.

I saw it at the theater. Mind you it was a dollar theater, and my 87 year old mom really wanted to go out to see a movie. I have to say, we both enjoyed it. It will be seen again in my theater room.

Alan in Boise
Enjoying films in my home theater room more than I enjoy them at the local cinema. Better bass, better surrounds, better picture. Cheaper popcorn.

Cool

I live in Pittsburgh as well. Glad to hear the closed roads and traffic backups were worth it!
