Thanks for the heads up, Frank! I will let you know. Heck, there's a whole bunch of BDs waiting for me to watch and I will chime in with my thoughts once I do (slight set-backs have kept me at Bay tongue.gif but that won't keep me from catching up soon... much sooner than later I hope!)

Still, something tells me I will like this one... Salud, compadre!

I agree - these two made the film decent enough for me to watch. If you don't like those actors, you probably won't like the film (IMO).
Overall, I thought it was worth watching, but not a whole lot more than that.

With that being said, some parts were just too unsettling to sit through and I had to FF.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
If I wanted to watch SAW, I would have rented that.

I couldn't believe that bit. The levels people go too is insane.

Come on that's a bit of a reach.

This film considering what they put that poor guy through, they really toned down the torture and really didn't show all that much of it thankfully.

Agreed. I think there is a bit of over reaction in here. I still enjoyed it wink.gif

Rented it and liked the film. It seems to be a cross between Smokin Aces and Bottle Rocket, but a much darker movie. Crazy pace and stupid funny at times. I am sure (and hope) this is a very exaggerated version of the true story.

Well, in spite of onscreen messaging to the effect that "THIS IS STILL A TRUE STORY", there were plenty of invented elements, for example the whole severed toe thread was entirely fabricated. But I agree that this was perhaps surprisingly well-paced and do also agree that the darkness does quite adequately transmit through the farcical treatment -- of course was not intended as oppressively dour/morbid to where entertainment suffocates, but I certainly had no difficulty recognizing the evil afoot through the romping buffoonery. As you may know, the tone has come under fire for trivializing the true horror of these events, but I was both amused and horrified, so for me this approach really balanced the manner with the matter at hand.

But it must be said --BEYOND ALL OTHER CONSIDERATIONS-- that the soundtrack on this sweet confection is one of the best of the year, and quite reminds me of the GI JOE also of last year -- dominating, bombastic, dynamic -- in a word SLAMMIN'!
