It appears hidef digest is the anomaly here. bluray.com gave it reference quality as well. I suspect HDD has sour grapes regarding them movie. Sounded very biased from the start against this movie, and seems to have tainted the review of the AV as well.

+1!

"Now, wouldn't that be somethin'!"

I remember that phrase from TRON: Legacy and that was the first time I witnessed the AR change (one of my very first Blu-ray 3Ds) and, boy-oh-boy, did I looove that! Really wish they did that all the time... cool.gif

Well, constant aspect wasn't the way I saw this in theaters. And I'd prefer the BD reflected the theatrical aspects as intended. I may just wait for the Euro version if it's all-region.

Most theaters showed this in a constant aspect, but I agree that both should be made available on blu ray. I know I always feel jipped when I am forced to watch variable aspect, so I can understand how fans of that would feel for this release.

The Euro version is supposedly a misprint and will be constant aspect as well going off the bluray.com thread, but there will be confirmation of that today or tom I believe as someone over there will have that release in hand.

That would be nice. It was unbearable in theater. I'd love to have this home with me and be able to actually listen to the thing.

Quantum of Solace kind of has the same issue IMO, especially in the opening scene. What some people call "reference," I call "annoying."

Ralph is batting 1000 in the short time (8 months) I've been seriously following his reviews. The storyline can't be helped but I've found when he says it's reference AV it is. I expect on Tuesday it will be the same way smile.gif

Yes, well just the same he gave a 98 to QoS. I'm not saying he's wrong in how close it is to its theatrical representation, but some sounds are a bit aggravating to the ear, just as it was for the recent Star Trek film.

You have no idea how ecstatic I will be to have my doubts relieved! I'm merely hoping that will be the case, though.

I just cancelled my Amazon pre-order from a long time ago because it hadn't shipped yet. Pretty sour at Amazon when it comes to new release ship times. Did you get 2 day shipping? Do you have Prime?

I am an Amazon Prime member. This is the first time I have pre-ordered something from them. I choose what shipping option got it to me tomorrow, and I was not charged extra.

Today must be my lucky day, I just received my copy on the porch!

Edit: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I only watched the movie up until the ambushed meeting at StarFleet. I can say the sound/picture is way better than what I experienced in the theater. Ralphs review is spot on!

I won't pick mine up until tomorrow. If someone watches this tonight I know I and others would appreciate your thoughts on the AV quality. I'm particularly interested in the shrill audio or lack of some have reported. Thanks guys.

Remember when trailers were as important as the feature in theaters and on vhs and dvd? Thanks to online sites like youtube and shows like et...the trailers before movies are as repetitive as tv commercials.

Ah the good ol' days of seeing most new previews at the movies! I think it still happens but most are online these days.
