Nice review!!

This is one of my favorite movies of the year! I loved it and can't wait to get the 3D edition you reviewed. Very excited!

Ralph, I'm happy you got not only the 3D version to review but the whole enchilada! (Lately you've been getting 2D-only versions, tongue.gif) Glad to see you score this as a must. Just loved this one at the movies, but only got to see it 2D. Yes, I am planning on getting this Everything Is Awesome edition for my 6-yr-old (my inner kid--and I'm pretty sure my older son and daughter--wants it as well). cool.gif

Recommendable especially if you have kids any age! biggrin.gif

Greetings,

Thanks Taranteacher. The truth is that I have no problem receiving 3D product from most of the studios I cover. There are occasional hiccups from Fox and Universal which is probably what you are thinking of.

Thanks and enjoy! smile.gif

LOL. Now we know that batman really is an AVS Forum member. I was laughing hysterically when that scene kicked in. It was "awesome".

I'm interested be the high review of the 3D for this movie. I saw it in the theaters in 3D and was excited because I thought that it would be perfect for the format, but I came away supremely disappointed with it. In the theater, it felt as though it was one of the live-action films that was shot in 2D and "unconverted" to 3D. No real effects were noticeable, and there was very little depth added. I wonder if there was something wrong with the theater where I viewed it, or perhaps they improved the 3D for the disc release. Either way, I found it interesting.

Animation isn't my cup of tea in general but this one is simple AWESOME. If it wasn't late already, I would have watched it again right after the ending. These guys are creative geniuses.

On one level this is a very "heavy" movie. Satire and silliness is a clever way to deliver a message.

Watched this again tonight, it's easily worth a second or third viewing. This time around I noticed just how many clues you're given through the movie regarding the twist, along with something else it has in common with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

Spoiler!

There's more, and I may actually take notes the next time I watch it to keep track, but there's a LOT more going on than silly jokes and action sequences.

Thanks for the review Ralph. When it first hit the theaters, I had practically no interest in seeing it, but after reading your review and subsequent comments by other AVS'ers, my interest was peaked.

I definitely enjoyed the movie and will definitely watch it again. There are lots of gems and nuggets strewn throughout that I doubt I got them all in the first viewing, and as others have mentioned, while on the one hand, it's possible to enjoy the movie simply based on its whimsical nature there are definitely serious undertones to it. Kudos to the writers.

I enjoyed the 2D presentation and can't wait to check it out in 3D with the volume cranked up.

I have to say though, some of the rapid motion action was a little too quick for my tastes at 24fps (I know it was meant to have that rapid fire look). I really do hope HFR becomes more common. I just personally dislike the artifacts inherent with the archaic 24p rate and it's always distracting to me especially with fast motion.

Apparently I am in the minority, I was bored out of my mind for the first 15-20 minutes. It got better as the movie went along but I still felt like I had wasted my money going to see it in the theater. My kids absolutely loved it and want to see it again so I will wait until I can find it on the cheap and pick it up for them.

Feeling the Purple Power thanks to HD DVD and Blu Ray.
