My wife really doesn't like sci-fi movies, and I forced her to see it at a decent RPX theater when she came with me on a business trip. She actually really liked the movie and even told our kids (2 daughters, one in high school and the other half way through college) that they would like it too.

Definite purchase for us.

For those upset about it not having Dolby Atmos, just ask yourself... When will you, realistically, get Atmos in your home? If it is, now be honest with yourself, in the next year, then sure... Wait to buy this. If it is some time beyond that, which it really will be for most people that even end up with Atmos at home, then worry about Atmos tracks for movies a year or so from now, and get this and enjoy it now. I am confident that the DTS-MA track will be amazing as is.

If you have an Atmos setup now, then what are you listening to in Atmos anyway? Then I guess I would wait for sure.

It does have more action than oblivion, but I honestly think you will not like this if you did not like that.

It was much better just "Edge of Tomorrow."

I don't know if you had the opportunity to see this in Atmos but man this movie kicks some serious ass in Atmos. I was very impressed with it.

No, unfortunately we don't have Dolby Atmos theaters here on my island; I would need to take the ferry and hit the mainland, near Vancouver.

I'll wait for the Blu.

"If you build it, they will come............" Field of Dreams:

Atmos ceiling cloud built ......check

12 AWG wire from ceiling to rack........check

Two Lab Gruppen c20: 8x amps for 16 speakers........check

Ticket to Denver for CEDIA.................,check

Processor.................

Ceiling speakers..........

Invite to Dolby Atmos Demo......yes.........then a no

Suspect many are in same boat as me......gun-ho for Atmos, but are not ready.

I suspect 7.1 DTS- MA will suffice!

Seems you all may be looking past the ending. The movie can't have the ending it has with the story line the way it is.

Do you know who lives, and who dies? ...Him, her, them...
...And are they truly living and dying? ...Over and over. ...Immortality?

There are some pretty plausible theories about it if you search for them. Without diving into the details too much, SPOILER ALERT: The one that seemed to be the most commonly accepted was something around how he died at the near end, and what happened to him (having the alien blood envelop him) and him getting control of when the date got reset to. Now I am not the person that dug deep into it, but that theory and all of the details around it (that I don't remember anymore) made a lot of sense when I read it.

How this movie did much worse at the North American box office than the latest Transformers movie is beyond me. This is great sic-fi and a movie that's worth owning just for the repeated viewings. This movie held my attention throughout and was well worth the price of admission. TC and EB together worked! Great casting, great story, great direction, great special effects -- what's not to like?

Greetings,

I absolutely agree. Better still is its potential for top notch sound on Blu-ray. It arrived yesterday and if the brief segment I checked out is any indication this is going to be one hell of a ride..

My review will post in a few days...

Regards,
A few days; unacceptable. Didn't you read the fine print in your reviewer clause? All movies must have a review posted within 8 hrs of receipt of film.

I am really looking forward to this film. I missed it in the theater, but it's a definite blind buy for me, Atmos or not. It's not the first time I've double or triple dipped, *cough LOTR cough*. I'm just crossing my fingers there is no filtering. I'm getting really tired of neutered low ends in recent releases.

Judging by a few early impressions of the audio quality I've read online, the LFE levels in the opening sequence is supposed to be insane

It is more than insane, it is ridiculous. Sure, kind of cool, but it is completely wasted. You are seeing the opening studio credits and there is no need for it as far as the movie is concerned. The sound is so hot that I have heard that it is damaging speakers.... even good speakers/subs. If it somehow fit into the movie, that would be one thing, but come on. And I am a guy with 2 large subs, and love bass and LFE, but having to turn my system down 10-12db and still shaking the whole house for just that few seconds is dumb. Then I turn it back up to normal levels after the credits.
