I have also watched Oblivion multiple times and enjoyed the isolated score as well. The visuals and the soundtrack are truly amazing.

Agree with the last few posts. Oblivion for me is the best overall A/V ride of the 2013 blu ray releases. I have watched the movie 3 times already and did a 4th listen with just the isolated score which was incredible as well. Wish they would include the isolated score more often as an extra as it is something I would listen to.

The commentary track on Oblivion is well worth a listen as well.

Watched it last night. Enjoyed the film somewhat but the sound track was first rate.

I have a Trinnov demo unit in my theater and in A/Bing the soundtrack on the fly I was amazed at how the Trinnov unit improved an already excellent sound track. The expansion of the already wide soundstage was quite impressive. . I'm amazed at the technology.

Great track but old story line.

It's back!! Wine of the Week! This week the Catalunyan Equilibrista. I wonderful, full bodied blend from Spain that drinks at twice the price. Tried a bottle and bought a case! Priced right! $28

Gave this a second viewing last night, and was even more pleased than the first time. I cranked it up a bit (still just -11dB) and the bottom end was incredibly deep. Those 18s were shaking my pants and thumping my chest at various moments. Incredible impact!

The video was loaded with verisimilitude; so much so that often I forgot I was viewing something on a screen, and I reacted as though it was happening in the room. My GF hadn't seen it before, and her Eeeks! and screams were frequent as the realistic video and powerful audio wreaked havoc on her nerves.

There were some plot holes, and illogical moments, but I easily put all those nits aside and committed to the total experience. My reward was a stunning sensory and emotionally fulfilling experience.

What I can afford, when I can afford it...

since oblivion came out on bluray, has it grossed more money than its theatrical run? In the us alone, it tanked but worldwide it did good numbers. Wonder how the box office will be for Tom Cruise's next sci-fi movie...

I was going to rent this on Redbox today mainly for the bass experience. Any reports of the Redbox rental copies not containing lossless audio?

Can you list the source that states the rental copies of Oblivion were not lossless? I bought the disc after seeing it first run at the theater.

It's only Lionsgate and its subsidiary Summit Entertainment that you have to worry about getting lossy audio for the rental version of movies. Oblivion is Universal, so you will be fine.

Watched it last night. A very fun audio experience and definitely recommended.

As for the movie itself Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I thought it was pretty predictable. The first time they showed the radiation zone I figured something wasn't right with it. Once he crossed over and they show the scene with the other Jack landing I immediately said to my buddy that it was him. Reminded me of War of the Worlds. The beginning started out great, then it turned into meh. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

This is my go to movie for testing my speakers. It has everything from deep bass to awesome 7.1 surround effects that are stunning on with Neo X 9.1. I highly rate it it!!! And the same with with Tom Cruises new movie Edge of Tomorrow is the same. But see it at a Dolby atmos theatre it's spectacular!!!

About 18 mins in Tom falls in slow mo and the bass is pretty cool and is followed by some great 7.1 surround.

I just watched Jurassic Park 3d and it has lots of bass. Highly recommend trying it out if you haven't already. smile.gif
