The replacement disc that comes in the case with the yellow bar code is blue instead of silver like all the other sapphire series discs. It also mismatches the second special feature disc which is also silver.

I purchased the new blu-ray of Saving Private Ryan with the yellow UPC code, however, it freezes and skips. Has anyone else discovered this problem?

What player are you using and in what particular scenes? I haven't cracked the shrink wrap on my new disc yet.

It was about half way into the movie. When I get home tonight, I'll note the chapter number and report. It was bad, though, so much so that I simply stopped watching the movie. I was using a Sony BDP-S1000ES player. I also own the Sony BDP-S5000ES player, and I will see if I can duplicate the problem on it. By the way, I made sure the disc was clean.

If you give me a time stamp, I'll check my disc on multiple players I have in my home right now (LG BD590, Samsung BD-C6900, Oppo BD-83, and a Pioneer BD burner in my computer (oh yeah...I have a PS3 too).

my replacement copy of SPR is also defective. it freezes in chapter 19 at the 2:34:11 mark and from then on till the end of the movie the audio totally cuts out. i have to go to the settings, switch to another language, and then switch back to english.

Once again, I was grateful that my first generation BD copy of Saving Private Ryan was perfect. My son and 17 year old grandson visited over the holiday weekend. My son loves the film as ardently as I do but my grandson had never seen it, so we watched the BD on Friday. They were both blown away by the quality of both the video and audio, as well as by its artistic merit. Wow, what a great movie!

HT setup: Sony 75XBR X940D UHD HDR TV; Kaleidescape Strato Movie Server 6 TB; Yamaha RX-A3060 AV receiver; Sonamp 2-1 2channel 100W power amp; Crestron Control System; 2 Rythmik FV18 subwoofers, 6 Hsu HB-1 Bookshelf speakers, 1 Hsu HC-1 Center speaker, 4 Focal ICW8 in-ceiling Atmos speakers; Oppo UDP-203 4K HDR BD player; Mac Mini HTPC. TiVO Bolt 1TB DVR; TiVo Premiere Elite 2 TB DVR; Roku Premiere+

watched it with my brother and gf yesterday and we were blown away by the film. It was the first time for my gf and we had quite a discussion afterwards about war and veterans.

on a side note, the audio blew me away and really immersed me into the movie. Great use of surrounds and even LFE as tanks and explosions all had a great tactile feel . The picture was soft at times, but some scenes blew me away with their clarity and sharpness.

Glad to have bought this and will get multiple viewings throughout the years

My HT: 7.3.4 Denon x4300h + stereo amp, Hsu HB1-MK2, HC1-MK2, Pioneer SP-T22A-LR, svs pb12+/2, svs pc13, b1200d, Sony 55x810c, xbone s.

I agree that the audio was demonstration quality, Those who have an HT setup that includes well matched 7.1 speakers and a suitably beefy subwoofer, will be especially gratified.

I was MORE than pleased with the audio on my Cambridge Soundworks 7 speaker system and a Velodyne Servo Sub.

This was one of the first DVD titles that I purchased after building my HT. The DTS audio quality is excellent and really shows off the surround capability of the AVR and speakers.

The video quality is about a 8 out of 10 overall. There is one short portion of a scene in chapter 4 from 24:40-25:39 in which there is camera lens flare seen extensively around the fire that extends vertically into the picture.

The aspect ratio of the DVD format is 1.85:1

I have the BR version on it's way from Netflix and will compare to see if there would be a reason to purchase that version.

Same here. If memory serves me correct, I believe I purchased this and the Eagles Hell Freezes Over at the same time when I upgrade to DTS. Both sounded awesome. After that I was hooked.
