I would like to throw my 0.02 out there for those that have not watched the movie. Most people I know absoutely hated the movie and said it was one of the worst movies they have ever seen. Much like everyone else here, I absolutely loved it.
I think to fully enjoy this movie, it is best to know NOTHING about this movie. Although accurate (except I would have said the audio is reference worthy), I am gald I did not read the synopsis/review by Ralph. This movie was largely enjoyable to me, b/c I had ZERO background on the movie. Reading the review would have been a spoiler in my situation. I did not even assume a connection to religion when I watched the movie.
I think that being a Christian and respecting God HELPS to appreciate the movie even more. There were scenes that gave me goosebumps and motivated me. On the same note, I watched this movie with 4 other "strong" Christians (I am just a regular Christian
), and they did not derive any Christian themes or under-tones in the whole movie. They actually did not like it. So, I think those paranoid by the thought of religion are over reacting to this movie being a "Christian" or "religious" movie.
My advice is to watch the movie with no expectations, and to pay attention.
I do have a question, but unfortunately I do not know how to use those cool "spoiler alert" tabs. I can ask this question openly without giving anything away. Can someone PM or encode (via the "spoiler alert" tab) their answer. Around the beginning of the movie, Denzel put a recorder or something to his ear when he came to a fork in the road. What is up with that?
