Hey everybody,

I have been searching here and online for DIY concession/candy counter. One that can hold a popcorn machine on top (a counter) and candy on the inside for display. I have found a few pictures, but not much in the terms of construction or plans. I know this is an accessory; however, I am looking to build mine if possible and thought the construction thread would be best.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

The easiest approach would be to assemble a concession stand from kitchen cabinet boxes. Use a couple of base cabinets and order doors with glass inserts for the display area. For safety reasons, make sure you get tempered glass. Add a counter top and you're done.

If you want to get a little fancier, order a shallow-depth cabinet for the display area and have a mirror cut to fit the back of the cabinet. Use glass shelves and glass doors. Add some rope lighting around the inside of the cabinet's face frame.

Adapting pre-made kitchen cabinets like this would be fairly easy and would give you a lot of options in terms of style and finishes.

Hope this helps. -- Paul

Check out the kitchen cabinets at IKEA. They are designed in a very modular manner so that you can create many configurations with some ingenuity. Very good price. Great quality for the price.

There was one issue of the now defunct "Home Theater Builder " Magazine. They had a DIY candy counter article that showed a step by step how to...
build from a kitchen cabinet bought from lowes...

if you cant find it PM me and i will see if i can copy and send it out to you

If you can get your hands on a display case ( I got mine from a toy store closing ) you can box it out completely custom. you should be able to find one on e-bay, or if you see a store in your area going out of business. Have fun !

I have an old copy of Home Theater Builder magazine that has a candy counter project in it. It's quite shop. If you're interested, I can try to dig it out this weekend and scan you a copy or something.

Thanks for the offer. Max (couple threads above) is going to hook me up with a copy of the same article. If for whatever reason, the article does not come through, I might come back to you and take you up on the offer.

Thanks

Ok. Here you go. I put this together from memory and pictures so please be sure to validate my numbers as you go to ensure that I didn't make any mistakes or typo's.

Good luck and post pics if you construct a candy counter!!

Dang.. All these are sweet.

I am very space limited on mine. But I am going to have to break down and do something a little better eventually and this thread is awesome.

Fantastic! I want to thank you from all of us - this is very time consuming to put plans like this together and I surely appreciate your effort!
