Thanks, fellas!

The floor is open for any quesitons or requests for specific build pics. I'll do what I can but I have to admit, there times when I jsut plain forgot or was too frustrated (that's the nice word for it) to use the camera.

Congratulations. Proof that despite all the set backs and possible reasons to want to give up and quit, you were able to finish and triumph. It's been quite the journey. Thanks for the fun ride.

Oh, I don't think so.

UPGRADE, maybe. 2.0, naaah.

Upgrade maybe sooner rather than later, too.

Very nice looking theater. It looks like a lot of your equipment came out of a time warp from about 10 years ago though.

LOL! It's been in use for most of that time, too. First in the livingroom and then moved down to the theater as it progressed.

Great job Tom and congrats on finishing! It looks like a really cozy place to gather.

Sweet build! Much better than I was expecting, not sure why LOL. The grand opening was so classy like what I had expected from you. Now is the time to enjoy it and try not to let that 2.0 itch start.

THAT my friend, is an EXCELLENT question. And one for which I do not have an immediate answer. Although, I DO believe the LOGANESS does.

Case in point....

I take the Metro to Downtown DC. Apparently there were three separate "track incidents" on the line I take. One of which involved smoke in the tunnel. The last time that happened a couple of months ago, someone died, so service was shut down. The line for shuttle buses went down the block to the corner, around the corner to the next corner and headed back up the third side of the block. So I did what any, normal, rational, sane person would do. I went home.

And by the time I got home, the morning was shot. My first thought was, "What am I going to do this afternoon? I have NOTHING to do...." So I met the LOGANESS for lunch, went home and walked the dog for 45 minutes (in 85 degree heat and humidity already...it will be a looooong summer in DC if this keeps up!) and then did the manly thing....washed the dishes.

I keeping hearing this little voice in my head( OK, it's my ear and it's the LOGANESS'S voice) saying....paint the living room....enclose the deck.....re-do the master bath......

Hmmm..I wonder what the delivery charge is on a Meat Lover's Pan Pizza? Is it duty-free? Do I have to tip the foreign AND domestic delivery guy?

How I spent my Memorial Day Weekend....

Me and my big mouth.

Painted the Living room last weekend. So THIS weekend it's the Dining Room. Spent MOST of Saturday moving the Living room furniture back in and then clearing out the dining room. This involves emptying the china cabinet, the buffet, and two corner display cabinets. BUT WAIT! We had to find some place to PUT all the "stuff" (which, as you all know by now, is the nice word for it). By the time I finish painting the Crown moulding chair rail and baseboard, it's almost 7:00 pm.

I'm looking at the empty room. Big opening into the living room. All one color. I, being the idiot that I am (with nothing to do since the theater is done), say "You know, an accent color under the chair rail would be really nice. AND I CAN PAINT THAT BIG WALL IN THE LIVING ROOM WITH THE SAME ACCENT COLOR." Not surprisingly, LOGANESS agrees. So a late night run to HD for color swatches.

Apparently the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend is also Stop Your Naggin Significant Other Or It Will Be A LONNNNGGGG Summer So Better Give In Before It Gets Too Hot And Paint Your House Day. I go to HD to get the accent color and some blue tape (which is a whole other rant, but I digress). Three people in front of me and two being served. The two had 5 1-gallon cans between them, which ties up all the working shakers. One of the three in front can't decide on something so it's a long conversation with the HD guy who doesn't look like he wants to be there in the first place.

I paint the top half of the dining room with the left over paint from the living room. What I THOUGHT was just over half a gallon was just UNDER a half gallon. But, hey, I'm only doing the top half of the room. One solid wall, one wall with a bay window, one wall with a door and one that is the WIDE opening to the living room. I squeeze out enough to everything but the bay window. Gotta run to HD for a stinkin QUARt of paint (QT = $15, GAL = $34 - I think I'm in the wrong business). By the time I finish, it's almost 6:00. At least I grilled up a couple of nice rib eyes.

Monday sleep in, get a late start with a late breakfast. Pull the tape, touch up. Actually looks pretty good. Then it's move the furniture back in. LOGANESS won't let me move me the couch in the living to paint that big wall until all the breakable "stuff" (see above) gets back in the cabinets. By then it was pushing 4:00 and i wasn't about to START painting then. A man knows has to know his limits.

I am SO looking forward to NEXT weekend.....

You didn't hear it from me, but I've found this response works wonders when my bride asks me to start a new project, like painting the dining room: "No problem! Of course, this will put that room out of production for a little bit, but it shouldn't take me *quite* as long as the home theater took. I think. Yeah, I'm pretty sure."

About that time she generally mysteriously changes her mind about wanting that project done.

Regarding women, my dad says something along the lines of you Tom, but adds the following.

Women can't live with them, can't shoot them legally. :-)

Many many moons ago when I was just a lad in high school my buddy and I hung around at our local airport. One of the pilots who befriended us and allowed us to hangout in his hanger once told us that if it flies, floats, or fornicates..it's much cheaper to rent. You know....he was right.
