Still wondering am I right or not.

Which one? There were two...but neither were Batman. Actually, I admit I can't remember where the "fear him" came from, but I didn't get it from Gladiator. As I said, it may be in there, but it's not where I got it from. It was a ganster flick, but I couldn't find it in IMDB as from any of the Godfathers, but that doesn't mean it's not in there.

I was looking for the last one you did "I'll be there in the Dark". I give up on these, i'm not good with names I guess that goes for movie titles as well. They both are familiar. Hey at least you haven't come through with the one I gave makes me feel pretty "slick".

Sir, stopped briefly at Lowes and HD on the way home for some more 2x4's and black outlets and am on my way down. Idiot me couldn't tell the difference between brown and black before so I intalled some of the dark brown ones in the HT. Won't happen again.

Thought up two military movie quotes and three pieces of general smack talk on the way to work today (had to write them down so I wouldn't forget) but just not in the mood to share right now after reading some of the above. I will save them for some other time...

RPh Drew,

I offer up a truce, "let bygones be bygones, nothing hurt so far but our egos" (where's that from?)

As the Commander and Chief stated, smack, insults, and boasting are cool but we'd be better served to join rank and bring the pain by showing the fruits of our labor.

Let the games begin

Loganator.....Loganator

Like you I was hoping to procrastinate for many many dog years before actually claiming victory! I have been planning and buying stuff with real no intention or gumption of using for years. It should be noted that I find the act of purchasing stuff does have a sense if accomplishment if you know what I mean.

Because of you my friend I have taken the plunge and started a build thread (hey one step at a time!). And I did so kicking and screaming after all I was just sitting here researching where to spend the next dollar minding my own business and BAM this thread is pops up! Here is the deal- I still intend to play as much golf as you, gamble as much as you and drink as much as you and with any luck and the good Loganator willing I will still finish my room Big/turtle years ahead of you!

But really I guess I owe a big thanks as the first step to HT bliss is actually doing something which I have started, barely thanks to you.

Cheers
Jeff

If I had it to do all over again, I'd still hit that shot.

Stop, quick check of the watch... 10:56PM. milestone...

My game room no longer requires the halogens!!! Oh the beauty of my cans... My can lights that is. I will not admit how long it took but I finally tackled the 5 gang switch box that controls:

Equipment closet light
2 cans on dimmer at end of game room
4 cans surrounding game room
ceiling fan
Ceiling fan light (4-way switch)

3 of the 5 switches on dimmers and a crazy shallow box due to being directly opposite to my theater switches... I feared the shallow box and rightfully so but with a good game plan it tucked all in there pretty nicely.

I gave myself a little presentation by turning off the halogens before testing then started on low and them brought them to full brightness!!!

I hear church bells in the back ground and feel a tear coming to my eye...

Oh the beautiful cans!!!

Now back to business...

What are you all doing on your cans reading this??? Get back to work!!!

Way to be Indy and RT... two consecutive progress reports in this thread... Now that is what I am talking about!!!

I was planning to work on my riser but it ended up being an electrical day...

Oh crap... I didn't even think of it... I can test my 2 hallway and 1 wet bar cans as well...

be right back..

Oh yea... All right... Looks great... out of sight...

Whooo Hoooo they look awesome as well!!!

Can't believe I forgot them...

Got called into work for a little emergeny today so I stopped by the AV shop on the way home and MY PROJECTOR is in!!! We are going to fire it up at the AV shop Monday with his equipment to make sure there are no convergence issues (Epson Pro 1080UB has had some issues per other threads) then back in the box and in the spare bedroom closet until Theatre is done.

time for sleep... Long list for tomorrow.

Oh, I hear ya. I am going to have to fight this with every fiber of my being. What is worse is my Burklines should be her in about 2 weeks and between those and the projector being in a box I am going to be like a little crack addict with his next fix only a few feet away.

Ok, let's set up some barriers:

1. I don't have any equipment to run it as I will be ordering Receiver, DVD, HD cable box etc. for the final install. Now if i really needed a fix I could high jack the receiver from up stairs but unwiring would be a pain in the rear... Not enough to stop the need for a true fix though...

2. I could let someone else store it for me but I just don't see that happening... $4k in a box... is staying here. This home protected by Smith and Wesson... and motion sensors, keypads... all part of the build...

3. Ok, need some assistance here... I need a cleaver picture to print that I can seal the box with... The little cartoon dude praying earlier in this thread might do it but I am sure this crowd can come up with something better.

Ok, back to the regularly scheduled program...

BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM!!! Hitting garbage can lid with large stick.

"Drop your (j)ocks and grab your socks! Off your a%% and on your feet. Let's move. Knees to the breeze in 5 minutes."

"We move swift. We move silent. We move deadly. Only one shake of those wangs ladies. Anymore than that constitutes pleasure and we're not in that business."

Back to work.

Ok, as promised, turned the camera down to its lowest resolution and snapped a few pics. I will try to start my own build thread so I don't clutter this thread.

The lens appears to be a little dirty.

From front corner of 13x26 theater. 8' ceiling around the sides. 7'x17' center goes up to 9'. Top of picture show projector shelf. Game room off to the right. No trim work done yet.

From back corner of theater. Wall that pre-hung door is leaning against is the screen wall. Right wall bumps out 2 foot for upstairs entertainment center so my riser (future riser) will be built into it.

From back of Theater looking into game room. Flat panel to be mounted on far wall with flanking in-wall speakers.

I will save the rest for my own thread.

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

Nice space indeed...Also wishing I had the extra footage to work with. I second the dust in the air, looks like compound or plaster dust I had the same thing only worse in my home when we took pics during the showing.

This weekend I realized that the wall for the steps coming down stopped short by about 6", this sucks because I am planning on carperting the steps and the exposed side at bottom would have been a challange to say the least. Solution was to build a half wall section, with an angled top for wood shelf/trim.

Then I finished corner beading through out and joint compounding those areas. I had to address the left wall coming down as the original stairway area had rough coat plaster. I closed off the entry at the bottom left so the rough texture needs to continue. Having never done plaster I was a little apprehensive and trying to duplicate the rough texture with joint compound doesn't quite work, not for me anyways.

So I gave it a whirl and it turned out pretty good. Quite pleased with results, enough to now do the inside of the 2 closets in a rough texture to go with the rest of my closets through out the house. The funny thing was though I was a lot more successful at applying the plaster smoothly and had to work at making it a rough finish that was consistent with the rest of the wall.

Wondering if I should try to plaster the rest of my walls, I'll have to see how the closets turn out. Then make a decision and move on as once advised

Darn, I gotta get some pics taken and update my thread (knew that was gonna be tough to keep up with).

Being brave has nothing to do with it. I've seen your work.
Some nice looking shelves for the wife's Christmas ornaments is a long way from a completed man cave.

General Loganator: We seem to have some troops that have gone AWOL. They sign up, accepted the coffee mug, took the uniform then presto... Gone..

I think some may have confused being Loganed with being "Caroled" or "Suzied". In those clubs, you get the nice new mouse pad and then you sit back and read how others are slaving along to a glorious completion while your theater is nothing more than a topic to talk to the neighbors about at the yearly picnic... (in a manly voice... if they can muster one...) "Yea, I'm putting a theater in my basement...Its going to be awesome... dude."

They closest thing they will come to a theater is microwave popcorn in front of their 27 incher in the "family room".

"Take your post. The (Loganator) is looking for a few good men. Unfortunately you ain't it. We will blaze a path into battle for others to follow. Surrender is not in our creed. Let me here you say that. "

So... are you Loganed... or are you Suzied???

Ok, now step away from the computer and review your checklist... Yes you. You know where it is... It may be late, you may have to work at the real job all day tomorrow but you can get something checked off tomorrow... Run a wire, tape a wall, hang a fixture, what ever... Write it down, plan it for tomorrow and then do it... Now go...

What are you looking here for??? GO!!!!!!!!

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

Visualize how much easier it is to do a job in smaller chunks. If you do it bit by bit, it will be done painlessly before you know it.

So, that was my bit.

Complete pre-wire check
HVAC supplies and returns Check
Drywall to be delivered on Friday

EDIT: Forgot the insulation in the soffit crap! That reduces one round of golf off of my agenda

Golf the rest of the week CHECK!

If I had it to do all over again, I'd still hit that shot.

Yes, I have enjoyed reading this thread. In much the same way I enjoy watching tiny little ants scurry here and there ... right before I crush them under my boot.

Left to do: build screen frame, build panels for screen wall, make panels for 1st reflection points, hook up PJ, wait for Berks to arrive (ship date 5/19),

Yes, unlike so many of you invertebrates, I am able to resist the temptation of prematurely project-ulating. Even though my equip is racked (Omnimount RSF rack, me likey and much cheaper than Middle Atl), I won't even connect my speakers until the screen wall is done. And I wear a hairshirt when working on my HT with the heat cranked up so high I am scared the green glue will degrade ... pain motivates. Comfortable working conditions ... you need to stop being soft like tissue.

Will start building my AT screen frame and wall this weekend, which should go quickly as I used Big's minimalist approach.

Oh, and Logan, I play golf twice a week and carry a single digit h-cap (okay, two single digits pressed next to each other, and only 1 1/2 on average)

You can join my fan club, punk.
