So one suggestion on the project front, given your rate of speed and the rate of change in projectors in performance / price. I would do the following instead of picking a projector now.

So what's the rate of change in projectors likely to be over the next, oh, 6 or 7 years? I mean we already have 1080p at a reasonable price point. Once it's fixed in position I don't think I'll need a power zoom or focus or anything like that (at least so far, the whole constant height thing doens't bother me). What POSSIBLE features could there be in the future? I mean, who would EVER need more than 64K RAM?

Well I've been busting my ass to get done with your lift. Taking off Wednesday this week to work with a friend drywalling the IB chamber. I hope to be able to return the lift to you Thursday night. Bring your truck to Mike's, k?

Well don't break it completely...we wouldn't want your ass in a sling for the next 6 or 8 weeks like your elbow was! So don't make ME start kicking it.

Sounds good...I'll need to gas it up for the LOOOONG drive Friday morning anyway.

I am thinking by the time you finish, you won't need a screen at all rather a stage with which to project the 3-D image on. Heck by then, we will probably be able to have a HT meet and greet by teleportation.

You guys keep pushiong this thread off to Page 2 and I keep bringing back like a bad dream.

Yeah, that's right. I'm your worst nightmare. This time I'm bringing it back the right way...with PROGRESS!

Got my framing inspected and PASSED.

Took all of 60 seconds. The guy says, "that was easy. I could use a whole day like this one." Says I need an insulation inpection before drywall though. I have a feeling it's because I took down the beat-up blankets that the builder had installed on the above ground section. The former owners had a couple of cats down there and they pretty well tore it up, so I just pulled it all down.

I'm gaining. Be afraid!

BUT you all get a two weekend reprieve as I'm off for some R&R and golf starting tomorrow.

Be back and posting on the 11th!

RPH - Keep this thread OFF the second page while I'm gone....THAT'S AN ORDER! And you kids behave yourselves while I'm gone....and NO FIGHTING. Hear, me? RPh is in charge. Yes you DO have to do what he says.

No issues. Passed electrical 6 or 8 weeks ago. Here in Loudoun you get a different inspector for each one.

Well first off let's get that post count up over 100 before the Loganator gets back. 26 posts in 11 days should qualify you for at least a mid-level time waster and that will get you say 15% of the way there.

Second, you need to start your own build thread. I have read some of the threads you have started and blaaaa, blaaaa, blaaaa 50 questions in one post. You have to remember the rest of us have limited attention spans (thus moving quickly from one task to the next without finishing any of them.)

Oh yea, and pictures, we liiiiiiiike pictures. We like looking at others progress (or lack thereof) and feeling better about our own slow motion.

The cool kids in the class can even make up pictures with animation. (Ain't that right Big.) Find yourself an animal to compare yourself too (a turtle is already taken) and give it some form of power (or horse power).

A quick review of your posts indicates that of the 35 threads you have responded to, you have been the last poster (thread killer) in 7 of them. Now either you respond with such clarity and authority that there is just nothing left to say, or the brain lock response just brings the thread to a untimely death.

If the guy with all the time on his hands that created "The Most Lurked thread in Dedicated Theater Construction & Design" and all the statistical ratios got involved I am sure he could come up with a thread killer ratio for everyone.

Explain the relationship between the two antidepressants Lexapro and Celexa (a little useless homework).

Stop posting in threads titled "Laying Carpet? Is it hard?" That sounds like an adult theme and we just can't let those gutter dwellers up in our ranks. You are also not allowed to post in "Show me your mount" or "Spacing of Studs before drywall".

Then and only then might the Loganator consider you for inclusion into the highly elite class of those that call themselves "Loganed".

P.S. The first post of your build thread SHALL contain a picture or diagram of your floor plan so we can figure out what the heck you are talking about without having to have a piece of paper and pencil in front of us while trying to read.

Now get to it. The clock is ticking.

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

Yes, your substitute has a pop quiz...

The class responds "OH MAN!!!!"

How well do you know your fellow Loganed members?

I will somehow describe a topic in one of the member's threads and I will be looking for the first correct reply post with a link to that page. Now if you posted a response near the original post in question, you are not eligible to respond. These quizzes can be left anytime of the day or night so stay close to your computer...

If you don't know how to post a link, figure it out (remember this is time wasting and keeping you from doing the things you should be doing).

and yes, I will keep score.

Ready...

Remember the answers will be in the build threads of one of those that have been "Loganed" (or in this very thread itself).

Stay tuned.

Umm well err see... here's the thing... I seem to have all you amateurs beat... I've been procrastinating for like 10-15 years now... and I'm still in the planning stages of my first theater...

I've actually been meaning to clean up my Sketchup model and start a thread so I can solicit some opinions from the experts on a few design issues I've run into, but I've been slacking on getting that done for a month or two... Well... you guys know how it is...

I think it was more like 6 edits but who's counting. I was trying to use the link button on the right hand side of the post boxes next to the post numbers but it didn't work. Not sure how you link the way papajin did.

Guess I also took it the wrong way. You said spider killer, imprez25 referred to him as his new little helper. Either way that MF'r would have freaked me out, that thing was freakin huge. It was getting ready to pass that 2x4 over to imprez25. Never had problems with spiders but that thing would made me run.

10-15 years Papajin, you've brought procastination to a whole new level.

In the message editor, you hit the "Insert Link" button which is the button I circled:

This will pop up a box asking you for a URL. Paste whatever you want to link to in that box and hit OK. It'll insert a "command" into the editor that will show your link. Without hitting any keys, or moving your cursor elsewhere, if you look there will be some text highlighted right after you hit OK. You can type anything you want now and that's what will get displayed in the message for the link. By default it just shows the raw link.

Here's what a link might look like right after I've typed it:

PHP Code:
[url="http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1014847"]Whatever you want...[/url
And here's what the above code will produce in my message:

Whatever you want...

Well, probably some of those years don't really count... I've been wanting to create a "theater" since I moved out of my parents house many years ago, and even started to work on it at one point... I bought a really nice TV, some nice front speakers, a stereo amp, and at the time a really nice surround receiver (it had Dolby Pro Logic!) to use as a pre-amp with plans to fill in the surround part at a later date, and then I stumbled and never got the whole surround sound thing going. Back then my idea of a theater was a nice tv and surround sound. Projectors were for rich people with lots of space!

I do still use the speakers (NHT VT2's) I bought, in my bedroom system, as well as the amp which was an Acurus A250. The Denon AVR-2500's amp section apparently died at some point even though I never actually used that part of it... though it did get use as a pre for many years. Ah well, maybe I'll actually get this one done. I hope so as once again I've got some equipment earmarked for home theater use!

I knew how to do that part but good post I'm sure it will help others, but how did you get it to be that one post of the thread vs. the entire thread?

When I clicked the link button on the right it did something then I copied the URL and pasted in my text, but then it was creating some sort of intranet error???

oh man, this must be an elite club, I dont know if I can hang. I think I will just stick to posting in random useless threads and asking elventy billion obvious questions On a more serious note, I might actually have the thread up by mid next week, BEFORE the drywall is up, plus I have been snapping pictures left and right....I am just about 1/3rd to halfway through the project, you know the period where you stop giving a flying flip anymore and you start avoiding going down those basement stairs

I just clicked on the post number and opened that in another window, then copied the url from the address bar of my browser. Not sure exactly what the "Link" thing is supposed to do. Just seems to relink back to the same thread again near as I can tell.
