OK all you slowpokes....

Can't get that last 10% that takes 90% of the time to complete? Hung your projector too soon? Wife won't let you paint the ceiling black so now you can't decide WHICH color to paint it? Still stuck on the Blu-ray or HD question?

Whatever your excuse, I can motivate you (OK, and maybe me at the same time). I'm 2.5+ years into my build. I've got HVAC and Plumbing rough inspections. I'm THIS close to an electric rough inspection (been that way for about 3 months now). I've put down dricore and I have one wall to attach RSIC clips and then fire block and I should be good for a close-in inspection.

BritinVA wants to know when I'll start a proper thread. WHEN I MAKE ENOUGH PROGRESS TO ACTUALLY SHOW SOMETHING. Maybe this is it.

I got a little motivated last weekend and accomplished a few pesky things.

BigMouthinDC says that if I finish before him, he'll "never live it down."

Yeah? I'm calling him out. He's been LOGANED!

I'd LOGAN BritinVA, too, just on general principle, but he's already so far done it just wouldn't be fair. When I beat him, the humiliation would just be too great for any man to bear.

BigMouthinDC....if you were going any slower stuff would have to start coming OFF your walls.

And now carboranadum wants to lay odds on Big. ODDS? I'll give you odds. I'll give you odds I can fire up my compressor, oil my nailer and shoot myself in the foot faster than carboranadum can pick up a hammer. You think I'm kidding? Huh, do ya?

Anyone else want a piece of me? Huh, punk? Yeah, you. I'm talking to YOU! You want motivation? I got your motivation, right here.

I've attached a couple of pics. I'll take and post a few more. Keep in mind, these are as of 1/2006.

Anyone else want to get LOGANED? Come on. I double dog dare ya!

=================

Link to the list of all of those build threads maintained by those deemed LOGANED. HEY! If there's one thing I learned after 20 years in IT, it's never do it twice if you can do it once. Two. Two Things. Never do it yourself if you can get someone else to do it for you. I'M not maintaining that list. It would take time from my build.

OK challenge is accepted.

Just for the record here are my facts.

I received my basement building permit on Feb 5 2002. I actually had the framing 90% done at that time.

I planned to build a Home Office (I actually had a job and was working at home at the time), A big-ass multi-purpose room with a large screen TV and an entertaining kitchen, Bathroom with steam room/shower and a separate sauna.

Plans changed along the way and somehow the TV turned into a projector and the theater motif ate my multi-purpose room.

OK as I stand now here is what is left to do in the theater room:

Design and install a 44 sq ft statement mosaic tile backslash over the back bar and finish decorative columns

Install back splash between the two levels of the the other bar.

Install under the bar lighting on the front overhang and wire in the counter receptacles.

Some finishing details on 3 row seating bar.

Select and install 2 back-lit poster frames

Order 4 more bar stools

Program My logitech universal remote and consider swapping out some dimmers for Remote control.

Solve/Fix Hum in Sub-woofer.

Then the theater 1.0 is done.

The status of the mini-spa is that it is drywalled and primed. So lot's of work there. Tiling, Build Sauna from a pre-fab kit, install steam generator, plumbing fixtures.

Have your company relocate you, then you will hussle up big time so you have something to sell. That was my kick in the paints. Although the battle turtle would do it too.

No. You said you're not done until after the remote is programmed. I'm saying I could sit around and do nothing except heckle these other guys (pretty much the schedule I'm on now) while you get everything done on your list, up to the remote and then I could still beat you.

Tom Logan has 22 in the first 4 hours.

OK, I'm here. Sorry to miss the opening rounds of bluster.

Wow, there's a lot of hot air on this thread, and quite a few posts. From the sheer numbers, I thought this was ChinaDog's thread. I came to my senses when I realized that he was DONE and Tom's still working to nail shoes on.

Still taking odds on biggy.

Come on Tom...don't let biggy have a meet before you....

Testosterone? Check.
Expensive power tools? Check.
Bluster and bravado? Check.
Man-caves? Check.

Seeing Tom spend his time on this thread rather than working: priceless.

My theater is almost done, though I haven't done a thread to document the progress. Only slightly over a year.

I'm still waiting for additional takers....I figured it would take the rest of the forum 5 or 6 hours to grow a pa....I mean to get the nerve. It only took HeyNow 4 hours to check back...I'm impressed. So far, only Big and cathan are man enough.

I just finshed swapping out the plastic box for the smoke detector for a metal one, stapled the rest of the wiring AND made the last connection.

I believe I am ready for an electric rough-in.

What is it again YOU guys have been doing for the last 5 or 6 hours? Beside coming up with lame retorts, I mean.

a few pics.....

I am NOT done and sandbagging it. here's today's Washington Post. You can see I still have open walls (notice the "crap creep" since the picture above when I put the dricore down). And a "before" and "after" swapping the box. First it's blue, then it's not.

Come on, no one else brave enough?

Why did you swap a plastic box for a metal one?

Here's a challenge - I bet I finish my master bed ceiling AND my screened porch before you fish you HT.

Clickie: You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
