I must say that this is one of the MOST dramatic changes I've seen here by a DIYer here.

Congrats!

There are no updates really. I still have some finishing trim work to install, but I've gotten lazy. The room looks finished, so I haven't bothered to complete it. I've watched many movie up there and have installed a cable box so we can watch TV. My son is addicted to Call of Duty and loves playing it on the big screen. He also loves to have his friends over to play pool upstairs.

Yeah I hear it's hard to finish the small details once the room is being used. I'd be interested to see some pics of the room with a movie or game running.

Edit: Nevermind, I missed those few pics from page 6. Looks really good!

Matt,

We are embarking on an attic build shortly and your photos have really inspired us to go forward with it. Great job and I'm glad you and your family are enjoying the new "cave".

Awesome!

p.s. OU or OSU?

We just finished watching "I Love You Man" up there tonight some neighbors. It's really hard to get motivated to complete the last few steps, but maybe one day I'll get to it.

OU or OSU? Does it have to be "or"? I support OU, OSU and TU equally! LOL

I assume TU is Tulsa U? In these parts (Texas), TU could mean something different, something very evil.....had to say it, I'm an Aggie.

Here's an update on my theater. I have been pursuing my photography talents and have moved all my studio equipment into the theater.

Here's how it looked last night:

And here are some sample of my work done in that room:

I'd love to have a home studio setup, but not at the expense of my theater!

Nice shots BTW! Do you frequent any photography forums?

Mike

Where am I with my HT build?

Still Dreaming! But I built a shed!

That is great...My wife has me building the photography studio opposite the dedicated theater. I am trying to develop a way to keep the backdrops rolled in 4" pvc and stored in the ceiling between the floor joists...its always something.

Very nice. What kind of body and lens are you using for this? I've been dabbling with this stuff for awhile but am still trying to convince the wife to bite the bullet on some L series lenses, specifically the 24-70L.

Well, I'm a "best bang for the buck" kind of guy on a tight budget. So I usually look for the best I can afford, but I can't afford the best and won't buy the worst. LOL.

I am VERY happy with what I have now which is the Canon XSi with the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 and the Canon 70-200L F/4. The pictures about were shot with the Tamron which is a very sharp lens for the price.

I'm the same way Matt. My system consists of a 1DMKII (bought used for the price of a new 40D and grip), a Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 EX, Canon 85 1.8, Canon 70-200 f/4 L, and the Sigma 150-500 OS. I bought everything below market price and most of it is used. My wife uses a 30D and Canon 28-135 IS that we also picked up used.

Great build thread. As many have said before, you do excellent work. The photo studio is a added bonus. I don't think I would change a thing but the multiple angles in the attic would make a great Klingon Bird of Prey themed media room.

Nice build!

Azzad, I wouldn't be opposed to talking with you and seeing what your needs are. I could build the room, but I'm not licensed or insured and would not want the responsibility if something went wrong. I also wouldn't mind consulting. What area in Tulsa are you located? You can email me if you want to pursue this.

Cheers,
Matt
