well, last week I washed down the bar walls and the rec room walls. Still need to do the bathroom and stairwell.
I also hung 2 of the coke signs I picked up while in Las Vegas. I will have to get pics later.

Then the big 3-9 birthday hit friday, and the fam took me to a water park. The sun gave me a birthday gift in the form of a sunburn all over my back.
Sunday - Tuesday was spent at cub scout camp with the whole family. It was a first for all of us, and we had a blast even though we had rain and lightning for the afternoon and nights on all the days. Slingshots, Archery, B B guns, throwing tomahawks, canoeing, crafts, compass, obstacle course, nature walks, swimming, and a whole lot of running for cover during the storms. (As I sit at my desk I think I am still partially water logged.)

Results of the soundproofing:

Last night we had a MAJOR storm. constant lightning, almost non stop. I was in the basement watching netflix. I heard nothing. I had no clue. Turning off the movie, I still heard nothing. I was out of the theater before I heard any rumbles, and wondered what was going on, then I went upstairs and it was like flash bulbs on the red carpet outside. So I would say the isolation works very well.

A rather unusual way to test the soundproofing, but seems like it would be very effective.

Question on the closet next to the entrance door - what did you use on the interior so you can install shelving? Are there holes, like in knock-down (IKEA) furniture, or will you use rails?

Hey Chris,

I actually just plan on some cleats with a shelf resting on top like in this image, only on a much smaller scale:

Well, long time no post...

I did get the trim installed in the rec room and bar area. Still need bathroom and AV closet. And need to caulk and paint touch up it all. Otherwise, I have hung a jersey, bought the wife new furniture this last weekend for the living room, so all the old stuff is now downstairs in the rec room.

I will be hosting a football night sometime in the next few months so I will get it cleaned up down there and some pics posted of the event.

I did finally watch some blu ray discs in there... WOW!!!
I watched Casino Royal with a buddy a few weeks ago when he was in town for a few days, then a week later I watches Quantum of Solace. Cranking the sound, the image, you were right in the middle of the movie. What an experience.

Will have to see what the winter holds for getting things complete, as I have started running again, and I am taking over the role of Scout Master for my son's pack (I was assistant, but did everything anyways). So that will keep me busy too. School has started for the kids, and I am back on homework patrol again, so I may just enjoy the theater as is for awhile.

I did get a Dish receiver VIP 612 for the basement. Nice to have TV down there now. I have ordered a UHF remote for changing the dish while in another room. With the Broncos game on down there yesterday, I was able to finally finish cleaning the dust off the walls in the bathroom and AV closet.

I also did the touch up paint in the bathroom, and attached all my towel racks, TP holder, etc. Still need to do the trim and shower in there, but it is coming along some.

I have decided to host a football game on Oct 23, so I am working on getting some of this wrapped up. Got the popcorn machine out, and the counter cleared off quite a bit. I am hoping to get pictures on the night of the game, so you will need to wait some time, but I will have pics of the furniture, guitars, hockey stuff, etc.

Ok, the football party was moved up to this last weekend, and the turn out was tremendous. 2 people and their kids showed up... Ah, guess it was everyone else's loss...

So I took some pics before people arrived.

So the bottom of the stairs with a hockey mask picture and a hockey stick I won that has a computer made Gretzky autograph:

From the base of the stairs looking towards the bar, and seeing the Hasek jersey I got hand signed:

Standing by the theater door looking back into the rec room:

Standing by the Hasek jersey looking at the wall of sound:

Looking into the bar:

Same spot, just turned right:

Standing behind bar:

Still need a railing, and the shower, but trim is finally done in the bathroom, still need to do the AV closet. I will have more to hang on the walls. I have an autographed Patrick Roy jersey I need to get framed, and above the amp on the wall of sound will be some shelves for the pucks from the games I have been to, and my autographed hat from Patrick Roy.

Looks really good. Sorry to hear that your turnout was not what you were expecting. At least the important people were there!

Memorabilia is pretty cool. Not much of a hocky fan, but I can certainly appreciate it's value to you. I thought about at one time doing a Colts themed theater, but I ended up not going that way, but would have been a good excuse to get some cool Colts stuff. Looking forward to seeing more pics of stuff as it goes up.

Looks great!

Maybe you've been through this before, but, what is the flooring in the bar area? I'm getting serious about flooring and have been shopping around. I thought carpet shopping was bad.

Michael, it all looks great!

Glad to see there's not something wrong with me and that you get poor turnouts too! Everyone that comes to my place goes on and on about how they have to come for a football game, etc. But then noone takes my invites. Don't understand it? When I was 20 I could just hint at a game party and the house would be full. Now...nothing. Must be something to do with being old.

It is an engineered floating floor. Bamboo. No glue needed, just an underlayment and snap together.

Thanks. I hadn't seen bamboo that I've liked. Guess I'll have to look at it harder.

If you find time could you take a closer shot of the bamboo floor or provide a link? I'm getting close to "floor shopping" again and looking for options for my pub/kitchenette area. I like what you've got and I'm looking for something different than just a "standard" laminate.

Thanks.

RT,

A quick tip; I didn't pay a lot of attention because I am not in the market. However; I was surprised to see some bamboo flooring at my Local Costco store..

I am working at home today and was going to take some pics, but the wife took the camera with her today...

But These are the pics from installation:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1#post18435161

Let me know if you need closer shots.

I got this at a local flooring store called Floor & Decore. I did not like the feel of laminate, and full wood is a no-no in basements, so I wanted engineered, and the bamboo was cheap and I like the red tones in the color.

I do remember the floor now I guess I just did not realize it was bamboo and in the last photos the floor looks slightly darker.

I'll have to check that out, could be a very viable option for me.

Thanks for putting that out again.
