Ok, a little progress!

I've got the bathroom floor tiled. I used 6x6 inch porcelain tiles...however, I used a new mastic compound I've never used before (Mapei from Lowes). In the past, I've always just used thinset morter but I just didn't feel like mixing up the relatively small amount it would take for the bathroom.

It is literally taking forever to set! Thinset dries in a few hours and boom...done!

So, I'm in a holding pattern waiting for the tile to set before I can:
1. grout
2. put in door casing/base molding
3. put in the toilet/vanity
4. Finish the plumbing.

I did however, get the anamorphic lens in...and setup.

Just as a side note...we are actually getting snow in mid-GA! I came from NY so no big deal...but it is like the world is ending here!

I'll get some pics up in a bit.

John

John - I just went through your thread...i'm subscribed! Looking great!
Question on the window wood shutter blinds you've got - how is light leak from those? You doing something else w/ the window?
I ask, as i'm planning, I have a walk out as well and a large window for the HT space.

Yeah, light leaks through fairly substantially during the day. I plan on putting up a set of heavy curtains...between the 2, it should do just fine.

Thanks for reading! Sometimes it seems that I'm talking to myself in here!

OK, waiting on tiling pics!

I'm at the point of replacing my dricore and need to decide if I should dricore the bathroom as I did originally or just go ahead and tile. I'm thinking that if I use Ditra it should put the tile at the same level as the dricore.

Yea, I think lots listen, but are either not sure what to say/ask. At first it's a bit intimidating on the site, w/ all the knowledge here. But everyone is super inviting and willing to offer help.
Unfortunately, my window will be next to screen and would throw off the theme, let alone light. I'm getting more towards to the realization to do a proper HT this window will need to be closed up. That's why I got a SI Blackdiamond screen, in case I don't block off the window and just do like you've got...so many choices.

In your case, then, I would make a window plug. Just do a search on this forum for "window plug" -- I also believe that Ted White (www.thesoundproofingcompany.com has a "how-to" guide on making/installing them.

Still no tiling pics for Logan (I just haven't felt like taking pics of the bathroom floor, yet!). I did buy sanded grout, however.

I work a lot the next couple of days so not much progress will be made.

Here's some important pics of the twins before they get their hardware installed!

John,

Do you have any idea on when you will receive the TXL's?

Per Mark, they are sitting now in his warehouse awaiting final assembly/testing.

EDIT: Here's a pic he just sent me after they were delivered to his warehouse for final assembly/testing!

Should be soon!

I am have made absolutely no progress on the basement...except to watch movies and drink Yuengling.

In case anyone is wondering, an anamorphic lens really does make quite a notable improvement in PQ/brightness for scope (2.35 to 2.40) movies.

Let's make a list!

BATHROOM:
Finish tiling the bathroom (2 more tiles to cut)
Clean bathroom/tile
Grout
Door Casing/Moldings
Wire Switch
Wire GFCI outlet
Plumbing -- finish shower/tub enclosure, toilet, vanity/faucet, install sump pump
Install vanity
Install mirror
Install vanity light
Figure out how to hang a door
Install closet door

Wet Bar:
Install Faucet/Drain
Finish Painting
Tile Backsplash
Outlet Covers
Overhead lighting

Stage/Screen Wall:
Take down screen wall
Install subwoofers (when available)
Painting all wood black
Make/fabricate screenwall framing/fabric
Make the baffle wall
Install bass traps
Install floor molding/Can light trim in equipment room
Figure out how to make the electrical panel (100amp subpanel) look nice.
Trim up the security box
Tidy up the rack

Back Wall:
Hang Black Out curtains
Clean/repaint the exterior white door

Walls:
Figure out sconces vs. posters vs....what?
Figure out design/pattern for walls
Install Fabricmate track
Firring strips around all of the relevant outlets/lights/HVAC return
Install fabric.

Stairwell:
Paint white trim
Touch up ceiling
Re-install handrail
Hang up pictures/posters/whatever

Misc:
Mount flat panel mounts in bar area/back area

Wow, I suck. Over 3 weeks and I have done almost nothing to the basement!

Finished tiling the bathroom (last 2 tiles required multiple wet saw cuts).

I'm off work tomorrow and I plan on getting some stuff going again.

Beer + PJ + Screen = Bad. (as in....Logan...bad....).

I'll get some pics up of the new toys, as well!

I have found that Beer + Anything = Bad. The first time I had any experience with a major move my buddy bribed me and many others with free beer and pizza for our help. I learned from that experience that you should only supply the free beer AFTER the move is done. Seven drunk people moving furniture might be funny to watch, but does not lend itself to having your furniture arrive in your new place all in one piece!

Live and learn.

RTROSE

Shuddup!

I'm ready to drive down from Atlanta, once you get it running, and have a listen. I'm not really in the market for subs since I have four SubMersives but am VERY interested in hearing your Catalysts for two channel.

I certainly hope I don't like your Terraform XL's (very much). They are not in the budget

Ok, some updated pics showing mild progress!

Bathroom floor tiled/grouted/cleaned/sealed. El-cheapo molding painted/installed! Still have to touch up the nail holes...

Some pics of the anamorphic lens setup/sled installed. Thanks to GetGrey! It really is an absolutely cool setup and throws an amazing anamorphic picture!

Early next week I plan on:

- finishing plumbing for bar faucet/shutoffs/drain and install the faucet
- clean up the bathroom tub
- install showerhead
- install vanity
- install vanity light
- install toilet
- install bathroom faucet/cutoffs

I should then be done with plumbing in the basement HT! Exciting, I know! Hanes, where are you with an exciting picture?

I have followed your thread all along but how did I miss the banter on using the galvonized to hang the projector... I have a similar set up for doing pull-ups in the basement bedroom (not that it has seen much use lately).

Do you get any questions asking if your projector is liquid cooled?

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

Those subs are starting to take shape. Looking good. I did not realize how much bigger than a submersive they were. I missed it if you posted but what is the wattage for the subs?

The lens setup looks pretty slick as well.

They are the major reason why I have gone to such lengths to decouple the room from the rest of the house. Sound proofing requires a huge amount of work! (and $$$)
