Wow is right. I have a roughly 6.5' x 17' 14" deep "boring" tray ceiling.

I am just finishing HT 1.0. Maybe version 7.0 can include something remotely similar to that. Man, I have to stop reading these posts. 10 minutes ago I really liked my tray ceiling...

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

That'll take all the fun of me building one!...my tastes in timber (namely high grade Australian hardwoods) will likely prohibit it however due to cost. That and limited ceiling height (2400mm), though I am trying to work up one that is 100mm in depth...more plans I need to get out of my head and onto paper.

Whilst these ceilings look complicated they are really rather simple once you get it going...just lots and lots of little bits that need cutting identically - the tricky bit (made easy with a Kapex for those in the know). I've made one from pine mouldings in the past for a kitchen (painted).

Anyway enough ramble, love the room, it looks smaller in the pictures though. What an awesome space it'll become!

Wow- maybe I'll do this rather than a star ceiling That the door in the picture weighs 400 lbs? I was assuming that it would look a little more substantial!

Awesome design! If I had another foot of ceiling height I would love to do something like that in my theater.

No, Don. It is a patented product called Perf-sorber. It functions as both a diffusor and absorber. It is available from Quest Acoustic Interiors (www.questai.com) and is a part of their "Acoustic Lens" product which has had some rave reviews of late. I've heard (and measured) the results...excellent.

We're doing a full step by step photo journal on the construction for publication.
