Looking really good mate. That sub looks amazing. Love the veneer work. More importantly, how does it sound? I did a bit of a search on Ebay on those QSC amps... you got a bargain. Speakers look great as well.
BTW, where did you purchase your blanking panels and shelves for the rack? Best price I can find on 1RU blank plates is about $12.50 each and the shelves are about $50.00 per piece. I need deep ones as my Sony BDP-CX960 is about between 450mm and 500mm deep and 6RU high. Do you know anyone who sells 2RU and 4RU rack ears. Emotiva had them and then they stopped stocking them. Would rather use the rack ears than shelves if possible. Really wanted them for the 2 amps and also my stereo preamp, processor and CD player.
Keep the pics coming!
Greg

They sound bloody awesome, to put an aussie tint on the theme

Still need to calibrate it all, I've not got REW working yet. But I am very happy with them out of the box and without any eq. I added the insulation to the baffles last night, further improvements to my ear

Yes those DSP's were a bargain, cheapest on ebay atm is about $700

Rack ears? no idea

Blanking panels I got from http://www.4cabling.com.au/

They're not black though...an odd dark grey sort of colour, with annoys me. Shelves aren't cheap...I am making do with the ones I got with my rack

P.S. We're slowly taking over - seen how many "down under" threads are on the main page this morning

Peter,

The sub looks awesome. Any photos of the mains before mounting on the wall ... I'm intrigued by the form factor !

I'll take some more photos tonight if I remember.

He (Andrew Ward/Aslan Acoustics) did a real nice job on the cabinets. The sides come out of the wall at 45 degrees and it sits flush with the wall. There is a split batten holding it on the wall (which is a MDF plate with 4 of the 20kg wall mates holding it on), but you cant see it (the batten) as it is all hidden at the edge. Very tidy job, better than I expected in all honesty.

P.S. if you want, you can come over and have a listen in a few weeks - if you've got time. I'll try to drag Greg away from his dry wall hanging too

Peter,

That'd be great ... I have no system at the moment so I'll take whatever listening opportunities I can. Fair bit of travelling over the next 6 weeks but I'll definitely fit it in ! I assume a 6 pack of Boag's will get me in the door ???

Boags....please, just because I'm a banker doesn't mean I drink like one!....Coopers fits the bill

It'll probably take me 4-6 weeks to get it all tuned anyhow

Must admit I'm quite partial to Boags ... didn't exist before I left Oz. Been drinking Coopers since before you were born ... no complaints from me there !

Hope everything is going good. I just went back over this thread and just was wondering if anything new has happened?

PLUS I just realized that your HT dimensions are the same that my wife is willing to accept for my build. Although I am still looking at another 2 years away.

G'day, thanks for the bump I cant let this thread go to archives, even if it takes me 10 years to build.

No updates on the theater, its in hiatus. If you want to see a room the same size check out Roger's room HERE. It is my yardstick for small rooms this size....but in saying that I'd be going for a see nothing, hear everything approach i.e. hidden speakers/AT screen etc.

I still haven't got my testing gear working to see how good or bad my new LCR's are in the living room. If they're good then the room could be done in the next 2-4 years. If not I have to save up big time for Procella....or hope for a bumper bonus one year

My ideas were to build a AT screen and have everything hidden. I will lose some space and wont be able to get the size screen I want but at least I will have a HT. That is going to be good enough.

Wifey doesn't like bass much and my room will be in the insane levels. Just want to make sure I have enough headroom.

G'day Pete,

Thanks for coming over today and for the advice. Oh, and for the bottle of Red. Most appreciated. I am setting myself a goal... lets sit down and drink it (and about 10 others) when my theatre is up and running. Maybe not fully complete but up and running. Sounds good to me.
BTW, I worked out how to burn those BD from my netbook so I have made you a copy of the Demo Disc. Will get it to you next time I see you.
Enjoy the SACD / DVD Audios and will chat soon.

Cheers

Greg

LOL, I know the feeling.

I cant get the input from the mic working with my Tascam 144 MKII soundcard.....annoying the crap out of me, so I have just left it for the time being.

The speakers are so awesome I don't really care at present. Just have to get around to adding the EQ at some point....I suppose it'll be worth it. Still haven't finished the cabinets yet.....so lazy

If you come up to survey Greg's handy work we should make an afternoon of it, come back here and listen to some tunes.

Ah oky doke, another time.

Apparently due to my lesser condition I need to rest on weekends now

I'd be there in a heartbeat, but have something on first thing.

Wow .....and here I was thinking Elill made some more progress.

Either way that looks a lot like the size of room my HT will be. Not big but at least a dedicated room for all my loudness.

Have a go!

I am at work so cant see those pics, I am guessing a high level of awesomeness

This year's progress will be the addition of a door and possibly have the HVAC installed (only because we're looking at the rest of the house)

I am going for the "AVS Longest Ever Build" award!

Hoping to watch the 2018 football world cup in there......thats about $10k per year....hmm possibly not

On a more positive note, 18 weeks in ~20-22 to go
