Looking really good man. You are light years ahead of me haha You'll be enjoying beer and movies and I'll still be working :P

Like it was already said though, the junction boxes behind drywall are 100% illegal in Quebec. I looked into it. Im not getting anything inspected either but my uncle is an electrician/plumber and he does inspections so everything I do will be to code. This is one of those things that he mentioned. It is likely that nothing will ever happen but ....

I love the look of your stage. I havent decided if I want to do something rounded or more squared off. Arrrrgh. Thats another thing for the spring time :P

Bar area looks good as well.

Im keeping my eye on this one.

Cool! Well of course, it's not that often that you guys "need" to come down here! Apart from visiting relatives or as tourists! We on the other hand are going to Quebec or Montreal pretty often. Got friends and familly there and we just like going to shop and to go eat something nice etc...! I must go about 10 time a years!

Take care!

Can you tell me what the shipping and border fees were on the MFW-15s. I am thinking of ordering a pair, but not sure of the cost of getting them here (to Manitoba).

Great looking theater.

Well, I doubt that it's gona cost you the same. Here in Quebec, the fees are just neverending... I haven't calculated exactly what it ended up costing me but I bought dual MFW-15's (999$usd), freight was about 325$, duties/fees were about 200$.

So you're looking at about 1600-1700$ cad +/-.

Quick update on the build, Drywall is 100% done. 75% of the plaster is also done, I basicaly need to do the remaining of the ceiling now and sanding my int. and ext. walls.

Carpet should arrive any day now, I have basicaly all my wood moldings now and I'll need to stain them... I'll have a guy working on a equipment rack next week also...

I'll post a couple pics tonight probably...

Cheers!

Well, been working on my theater a little bit each day and I wanted to give you guys a quick update. Drywall is 100% done. Plaster is 95% done, I need to finish the plaster on the ceiling/wall corners and I'll be done... Wiring, electrical work and insulation are done. I modified the bar opening at the back to give the soon to be counter a backsplash... I just finished instaling and wiring my vent for the equipment rack area. It is powered by an in-line ventilator outside the room which is gona power up each time I switch the receiver on.

And that's pretty much it!! I hope I'm gona have time to finish plastering and sanding tomorow so I can hopefully get a good coat of primer on everything sunday. Unfortunatly, I won't be working on the room next week, I'll be down in Kentuky USA for business....

I also need to dig into something and try to find a solution. I need to install my center channel on something, I would've loved to get the matching Paradigm support but it's too high, the speasker would be covering the lower section of the screen.... Well take a look if you want to help me find a way out of this!!! HERE! (THX!)

Be back next week....! Cheers!

There you go guys. Theater is done!! …well…. At least the interior! I still have to finish up the bar area outside at the back but I’m about 75% done so it shouldn’t be a problem… Here’s some pictures for you including some screenshots ! I'm one happy camper! Enjoy and feel free to comment!

Cheers!

Glad to hear you guys like it too! THX for the comments!

As far as sound, I seen and heard many builders and friend tell me that their kit sounds great. In some cases it was true, in most cases it was kind of...not...! The only thing I can say about my system is that it sound absolutely awesome. (to me at least!!)

I had some friends here saturday night including some serious audiophiles and it blew everyone of them away... They where seriously impressed. One of them just bought a pair of B&W 683, after hearing the Studio 60's V5, as far as i know, he was returning them this very morning...!! lolll poor guy....

And the CC-690 is just a monster. Simply the very best center channel money can buy IMHO...

THX again guys for the comments.

Doooooode, it looks awesome.

I love the color scheme. The brown tones are probably what we are going to do as well.

Amazing workmanship too. The attention to detail is really nice.

Those speakers are THE SH*IT! I havent decided on what I want to buy in terms of speakers but man, those are nice.

Once again, excellent work. If my room comes out looking HALF that good, I'll be more than happy.

THX man, glad you like it! If you're still unsure as far as speakers, do me a favor and go to a Paradigm retailer and listen to their Studio line... I just finished listening to the B&W reference quality audio cd. Those speakers blows everything I have listen to that would be considered "comparable" as far a size, spec etc....

Can you shed some detail on those sconces?

Also, what are the smaller side panels for?

wow, fantastic job! That really serves as inspiration as I'm working on a theater build in my house and have almost the exact same dimensions to work with.

Can you snap a picture from the back row while a movie is running - I'd love to see how those colors handle light coming off the screen in that size of a room.

Also - how'd the bar area turn out?

Just navigate to the "product", lights section and you'll find them.

Side panels are for sound proofing. Anti-resonance as I would call... They are filled with 1" thick rigid insulation material.

THX for the comments. I'll try to snap a picture tonight as requested...

The main thing is, paint finish. I went with a teflon based paint in "satin" finish. It's the less reflective paint available just before matte ceiling paint. It does a really good job and the most important thing, it doesn't catch my eyes when watching a movie in total darkness.

Bar counter arrives friday. Should be able to work on that next week. Expect to see some pictures of the bar area next week....

Just an inspiring space. There are a lot of great theaters/media rooms/listening rooms on this forum, but the simple design, coupled with those beautiful speakers, means that this space takes a backseat to none. For some reason when I look at those pics I just want to walk in, plop down, and turn on my favorite two-channel material.

Great job!!!

Thank you very much for the great comment! That's what I like to hear! I did just that today and listened to the Bower and Wilkins audiophile reference cd. I shut down everything exept for the left and right channels, total darkness, then I pressed play.... ....I was blown away. It was like getting a private session from Allan Taylor playing "Colour To the Moon" on my stage. I was deeply impressed... I love my receiver and I love my speakers. Can't ask for more.

Very nice. Now that I can see the pictures it is a very nice space. Hopefully mine will be half as good looking.
