I THINK you can actually accomplish the same thing with a another router, but it takes all sorts of technical tweaking and things that the general population wouldnt want to get into. So i think a bridge is the way to go.
I have Wifi "N" in my house, and it's great for my laptop, but my PS3 and Xbox 360 and Wii are in the far corner of my basement, through DD and GG, stone walls, etc, etc, that I had very weak connection. My PS3 would take forever to download those frequent updates they had. Xbox Live would randomly cut out at times.
