Workingman's theater is still broke down....
While rack was torn out I decided to do it right when I put it back together. I ordered standard rack rails, shelving, and other parts to make rack standard. Since so much of my gear is becoming pro gear with rack mount ears it just started to make more sense, not to mention it should look better and perform better also.
I also ordered a rack mount box which I'll be mounting my minidsp
into along with xlr panel mount jacks to make it a tidy box that will also mount in the rack. In case your not familiar the cables have to be stripped and converted to phoenix connectors and that makes for a messy setup IMO without mounting in a box. This will be a fun project I think, I've only seen a couple other people do this and look forward to trying my hand at it. I got the box 2U tall so I can fit another minidsp in there if(when) I need more dsp capability.
Also I found a really cheap source for rack stuff. I haven't received the stuff yet so I'll hold back from a recommendation just yet, but their prices and shipping were extremely good. Here is the box I got to mount the minidsp into:
The door and trim for the rack is complete minus glass installed I'll get some pics of that within a few days and hopefully get glass installed also. I'm hoping to get rack back together within a week or two and then start on my surround speaker build:
