I haven't posted anything on recently on the build. I'm almost completely finished. I need to still hit the base with poly and add some shelving in the back but that can wait for now.
I also added some black marble tile to the back counter. Have a look.

More Looks.

I have to say THIS is a VERY sweet bar. I love the look of the pennies shining through the etex.

I havent been on the site in quite awhile, and thinking about the penny bar I really wanted to do a few years back I started looking at my old posts, and I saw your reply about your project. Just wanted to say it looks really really nice. You put a ton of time into it, and it really shows.

If you get a chance when you come on the site next, post some updated pics of your entire basement project, would love to see pics of a completed basement and some more shots of the great penny bar.

Love this idea. One of my favorite ideas on here.

That's wasn't flying... That was falling with style!

So...a little throwback here...

Several years ago I followed this thread after deciding I was going to do a penny bar top. I thought it was a 100% original idea!!! Until I googled it and this thread was one of the many things I found! I actually had originally considered bottle caps (too Frat house looking) or Copper (too expensive!) so I had the epiphany of combining the two for a penny top bar ($29.00 in pennies)!

After googling it and finding this thread and some other things on other sites I ended up doing the penny bar top. I want to thank all of those involved here for their posts (especially Topher!!!). I had always meant to come back and post my bar but never got around to it...

Now, several years later I am back to post some pics! In the end, I couldn't be happier with my bar. The bar top is always the topic of conversation when we have people over. I ended up planning mine out with a Celtic Knot pattern in the pennies with the new, shiny pennies being the pattern and the older, discolored pennies as the background. I used Kleer Koat for my epoxy to cover it all...after gluing all 2900 pennies down!

I included several indian head pennies, lots of wheat pennies, a 1943 Steel penny, the 2009 Lincoln Life pennies, a blank "cull" penny, a double stamped penny...even a set of 50 pennies each with a different state outline and abbreviation stamped into the front of them (and I even incorporated them in the place on the bar where they would be if it were a giant US map!..yes, I have issues.)....and I have a 1857 Flying Eagle cent (the oldest penny minted by the US in the current size of the penny). I bought the 1857 Flying Eagle cent on ebay because everyone kept asking what the oldest penny would be....I did not plan on checking the date on nearly 3000 pennies so I decided to buy the oldest one there is to be sure! I also included a bunch of irish pennies (pre-decimal and decimal).

I just got an email about getting quoted in another thread about sound stuff and came over to respond and thought I would dig up this thread while I was at it! Thanks to all that contributed...just wanted to share my bar. It is my happy place!!!

Topher...if you are still around...
Thanks for the contributions to the build of my bar! I built this several years ago (see above) and just got around to posting some pics.
