This one was 6.4, but in a totally different area.

The nuclear power plant is getting worrisome, although it is not much radiation being measured pretty far away. If it gets any worse things are going to go from bad to worse.

Hi Dave,

Glad you're okay. I've got a friend who works for the Japan Times and lives in Tokyo and he's still staying there for now. I've encouraged him to head west, but to no avail so far. Very concerned about those reactors. Thanks for posting the pics.

Hang in there,
Craigo

Hey Craig, thanks. But your friend is not really in any danger, not to say the situation is not bad.

Hope things are well..

Still curious to hear if power conditioners helped out the problem you were having..

Edit: Nevermind. Saw on Seaton Sound that the issue isn't resolved..

Although the power conditioners did help a little, they have not solved the problem.

Dave,

I'm in the planning phase of my theater, and I will have a situation where I will need to be able to have access to the area behind my screen. Someone pointed me to your thread and your screen-door. Is this still working well for you? Anything you would do differently next time?

Thanks, and I hope all is well and returning to normal there!

Dude, are you made of leprechauns? Cause that was awesome!

Wow, sorry for the really , really late reply. But to answer your question, yes it is working great. And I go behind the screen a fair bit.

Well, it has been a long time since I have posted and I think it is about time I shed a little more light on my problems with my ears.

After trying many different ideas, methods and EQ, including power conditioners with no luck ,I was really in a bit of a hole regarding the ear pain I was getting.

Nothing seemed to work and I would get pain relativity quickly no matter what I did. I borrowed a set of Quested passive speakers and was getting no pain even after listening to them for hours. So naturally I thought it was the Catalysts that were the problem.

Until..... I set the speakers up with high powered amps in the theater, strangely I started to get the same ear pain as before. At this point I was baffled, why was this happening to these speakers that did not hurt my ears for months.

Well, to cut a long story short I found the problem for me was the fact that the actual power amps were causing the pain. I rewired everything and took the power amps out of the room and just had the speaker wire come through an air duct in the wall at the back of the theater. What do you know, no more ear pain.

This is where things get hard for me, being that I can't be in the same room as high powered amps, active speakers are a no go for me. But , it does give me some piece of mind to know that it was not Mark's speakers that were the problem.

Anyway, that is the situation right now for me.

Hi Dave,

Well I guess it's good that you know what the problem is, but unfortunate that active speakers are off the table. What do you intend for the long term ... keep the Quested ... or are you now searching again ?

Thanks for the interest guys. Things have been really sloooowwwww of late. As much as it pains me to give up the Catalysts, I have no choice. I am going with quested speakers with remote amps out side of the room. I have just bought a table saw and started on the cabinets for the 18" TC sounds subs, so the sound system is far from complete. I have though , given myself a deadline to do this by the end of summer. I will post some updates in a while.

Cheers Dave

Hi Japandave!            Keep us posted, i'll be looking out for your update. Things do take time, am i understanding you also changing your subs/why? Is it because of the ear &amp problem? Your doing some cabinets for 18" subs tc sound, wow! What power amps are you gonna use to power up  those bad boys?                    Thanks Dragonleepenn.
