Hey, you are going to love the Seymour screen when you get it. I just got mine mounted and for the first time watched something with my JVC RS45 and something besides a brown textured wall. You will love it.

Mini update - still waiting for the screen - I don't think the replacement has even been shipped yet. Getting really anxious to get the screen.

I also had an issue last week with the behringer amp running the subs. I noticed after playing for a while at high levels the subs started cutting out periodically for about 10 seconds then would come back on. I checked the temperature of the amp and it was pretty hot above the heatsink. I did the fan mod to the amp so I thought maybe it was not pushing enough air. I tried swapping the original fan back and still had the same issue. I ordered another amp and received it Thursday. When I started up the new amp, the fan did not come on at all. I thought maybe it had been re-designed to only come on when it got hot, but after 2 hours and getting pretty hot, the fan still did not kick on. I left the amp connected this weekend and a few times starting it up, the fan kicked on, so it appears to be an intermittent problem. The new amp stayed cool much longer than the old one - even without any fan running at all, so I think something is wrong with the old one other than the fan.

Luckily I ordered from Amazon and they shipped out a replacement right away. The new amp should be here today.

Which Beheinger amp? I have the embarrassingly-named iNuke 1000DSP and that fan is waaaaay too loud. I was planning on replacing the heat sinks and fan too.

The EP4000. With the fan mod it was pretty quiet. I think I'll leave the fan stock this time since my rack is outside the room. Its pretty loud with the stock fan, but either fan would be loud in my room. I can still hear the motor from the star ceiling a bit when nothing is playing.

Speaking of room noises - With the soundproofing in the room - any noise becomes audible because the noise floor is so low. As a side note, I've watched 4 movies in the theater so far - I've yet to come across any dialog or anything that I've struggled to understand - I also do not have the remote control sensor wired up yet and it has been fine not being able to adjust the volume. In my old theater I was always turning the volume up to hear quiet passages and then down again to keep from being blown out of the room when loud passages happen. I'm really happy with this aspect - no more pausing the movie when my wife asks "what did he say?"

My replacement ep4000 arrived. Fan appears to be working properly and the amp stays cool continuously. It is loud though - I had forgotten how loud the fan is because my other one with the mod was so quiet. It is tempting to do the fan mod again but I want to avoid any issues.

What fan did you end up using for your mod? Was it the Digikey part # P9739-ND? I will be following your setup and building an IB sub setup with one of these Behringer amps for power and will be replacing a similar CFM yet quieter fan to keep the rack noise to a minimum. Thanks!

Yes that is the fan I used - I looked at the invoice from 2009 and here is the description.

P9739-ND 8.68000 8.68 T
FAN 24VDC 1.30W 80MM FBA HYDRO

I also received an email from Digikey in July 2011 saying the part was obsolete.

You have purchased the following part number(s) from Digi-Key within the last two years. The manufacturer has announced this part(s) will become obsolete. Please click on the link below for more information on possible substitutes.

Manufacturer Details
NMB TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION Description: FAN 24VDC 1.30W 80MM FBA HYDRO
Manufacturer Part Number: FBA08A24L1A
Digi-Key Part Number: P9739-ND

For substitutes, please click here

Not sure what people are using for a replacement if these are gone. They do not have the same airflow as the stock fan. My amp ran fine with the fan mod until recently.

Thanks for the info - I really appreciate it. I called Digikey and they recommended a substitute for the discontinued fan, Part # P14751-ND. It is 2 sones quieter, 2.1 CFM more air volume, 0.39 less watts in power consumption and double the rated hour life at 100,000 hours. Price is $8.15 for one, fyi. I'll post on how my swap-out goes. Here's a link to the new fan http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...751-ND/2615564

I am sure Behringer's fan was designed to be operational in 95 degree heat at some sort of summer music festival where the demands are large and constant in these extreme conditions. I opened a case up with the tech folks at Behringer regarding cooling options under residential loads in a climate-controlled environment just for kicks...

Plenty of people have done the fan mod with no issues. I'm just a little reluctant to void the warranty right now.

I don't blame you one bit, especially since you have a dedicated equipment room outside the theater. I just thought I would share the feedback I got from Digikey for future reference.

Keep up the great work on the theater...easily one of my favorite construction threads.

Still have not received my screen yet and I don't think its even been shipped. I'm starting to get a bit impatient with the time this is taking. The whole reason I bought the screen was because it was reasonably priced and I thought it would save me time.

Its been nearly 4 months since I ordered the screen. The majority of that time has been waiting for material from Seymour. I wish I would have ordered the fabric much earlier in my build and just put together my own screen.

Making me rethink waiting to order the screen. May have to set up the projector temporarily to make sure the screen size I want works with the projector location. Sorry to hear about your delay. Looking forward to seeing your completed room.

Wow, I was getting impatient waiting just over one month. When I picked up my screen material from Seymour 3 weeks ago, there was a full roll of the centerstage XD (if thats what you were getting).

I actually received my frame from Jamestown yesterday, but I bought the frame only - I plan on installing the screen myself. Best of luck getting the screen soon!

I think that it took almost 2 weeks for me to get a "straight cut" of Seymour XD from him. No frame, no rivets, just cut. That was after being told on a Saturday that it would ship that Monday (2 days later)... Love the product in the end though.

I still can't believe you don't have it. Has he said if he's having sourcing problems for the material or is something going on with his personal life? Chris is a great guy, I see him all the time at CES and it blows my mind that it's been 4 months...

almost 3 months waiting for the Seymour material the first time, then shipped the wrong size screen, now waiting again.

That's really strange. My order direct from Seymour for a custom cut was lightning fast.

That's pretty disappointing. I've never heard of someone having to wait that long for the wrong screen mo less. Is the screen being ordered from Seymour or Jamestown?

Took me like 3 weeks for my EN4K to come in

Have you tried calling Chris and speaking with him directly?

I don't know who Chris is. But communication with James at Jamestown has not been an issue for the most part. James always answered in a timely manner until my last few emails in the last few weeks. The last email I received from James said he was expecting the material shortly and that was May 9th and that he would have the frame ready to go when the material arrived. That the last update I received on the screen.

Probably tired of suggestions and answering questions at this point but have you thought about canceling your order and going with a Stewart? Htmarket.com could get you one faster than that I would think.

Pop over to the Seymour screen thread in the screen forum and ask if there is a backlog. Chris is the owner of Seymour AV

if you need his email address I'll pull it up. He was very fast in responding to me with all my questions. Something doesn't sound right, it is very unSeymour like

The seymour fabric was indeed out of stock for almost 3 months. It was listed as out of stock on the website. Jamestown shipped pretty soon after the fabric was available again but I received the wrong size screen. Not sure what the hold up has been since, but I did get an email from Jamestown saying that he is expecting material from Seymour today and my screen would ship tomorrow.

Since the screen should be arriving this week I thought I better get a stand made up for the center channel. I started building a stand then realized that I had an old audio rack that would work to hold the center channel.

What type of speakers are you using again? I am sure it is somewhere in this thread, but kind-of a PITA to rummage through the 40+ pages of posts.

Theater is looking great!
