Thanks!

Also to the OP do you find your Sony Projector bright enough to light up that size screen? I am looking to upgrade to a 12-14' wide scope screen. Considering switching to DLP since I don't think my JVC will be bright enough on that size screen.

It is bright enough at new lamp. But I too am looking to get a brighter projector. I think I may try the BenQ W7000 for now.

Jeff aka UMR here on the forums suggested I look into the Vivitek 5082. He said for that size screen the Vivitek gives the best performance in that price range. Most likely I will go with the Vivitek. I was considering one of the ls runcos but I would like an adjustable iris.

If you're looking for similar PQ and a much brighter image compared to the Samsung or the Sony, I'd check out the Runco LS-5. I'm not sure what the gain is on your screen, but on a 1.0 gain screen it can do almost twice the ftL compared to the Samsung A900b on your screen. It's also just as bright as the BenQ W7000 I saw you were looking at in another thread.

Check the calculator here:

http://www.projectorcentral.com/Runc...ulator-pro.htm

I own the Planar PD8150, which is the earlier incarnation of this projector. I can tell you it's very bright!

I was looking into the LS series.. I've read nothing but good things about the LS series. There's not manual iris correct? One thing I prefer is a manual iris so I can get the brightness just where I want.

There's no manual iris but the lens has a 72mm thread. They did this specifically for neutral density filters (but you can use the thread for other things). If you need to dim the picture, all you need to do is purchase one.

I'll have to drop by their new location when I am in town next. I have a V2W sub on order from ebay to join my 1b's and VCC1. I am slowly getting back into my system and putting the parts together. Following your HT build has been fun!..

I bought the Sony, but sold it. I was not likening how it looked in my first row.

I sold it and am going to try the JVC.

How often do you visit Milwaukee?

I am still working on getting everything done by March 6th.

Happy Birthday SOWK

I was going through the thread and saw you wanted to get your HT done by your birthday.

As for adding wow factor, have you considered a Universal Remote that can run the lights also. I think that would be great just to hit the remote, the projector comes on, the audio system comes on then the lights dim for the movie.

How happy are you with your screen? I was planning on using an XD screen also but my seating distance will be around 11' and the throw will be about 17'. As for a projector my front runners are the Sony 95 and the JVC 45.

Nice setup Audvid! I have a couple of those Mitsubishi VCR's myself. How difficult was the convergence with the two projectors?

Nice setup Audvid! I have a couple of those Mitsubishi VCR's myself. How difficult was the convergence with the two projectors?

I moved my post to the correct thread here.

I no longer have those mitsu VCRs. As I wrote, those pictures were from circa 2000/2001. When I had this home theatre built in 1995, DVD was not even in the market. Can you believe that? It was Laser Disc time. That;s why the VCRs at that time.

Those projectors were not converged for simultaneous use. The 7" CRT, the 9" CRT and the DILA were independent. I had subsequently gotten rid of the 7".
