so what's the verdict on the floor soundproofing you did? Was it enough? Wish you did more, less?

Hi Wraunch,
What i did, did make a difference. Foot steps are quieter downstairs while in the theater room for sure. Im afraid i wont know the full story for a while. We had a baby boy a couple months ago and i have not been working on the project for a couple weeks before that. Im figuring i wont know how well any of my isolation efforts worked until i get a door installed on the theater. Hopfully this weekend i get time to start work again. My next step will be columns. The soffit is finished with light tray 75%. The lights and rope light are installed and working, however. Once i get a start on columns i will take more photos.

Curious- did you do any re-inforcements for your floor joists for the added dead load?

Calimark,
I didn’t do anything additional as the second floor was built in anticipation of the upstairs. The upstairs floor joists are laminated wood “I” beam, 16” depth on 16” centers with 1-1/8” Advantech subfloor. Longest span is something like 20’. I was the contractor on my house build which was finished in 2009.
