Ya. They have a cheap seat that only comes in brown or black that is 60,40 leather/vinyl and it's still like 2100 per seat.

They r just such an expensive chair but so customizable. Only reason I was even looking at them is cause they have a chair that looks like a old school leather chair with rivets. It's pretty cool.

Ps would be cool though wouldn't it.
5 GRAND PER CHAIR?!?!?!?!?!?!? ALL I CAN SAY IS:

For just one chair, that's just.....obscene!!!!!!

LOL, the Triads were a one-time purchase, and never in my life will I spend such money on speakers. I was actually thinking about selling them, as I'll need a new car soon. lol

...I wish I were joking!

LOLOLOL.....no way! To the elite of society, 5 grand a seat just means "hmm, let me delay my helicopter purchase until tomorrow so I can make that money back." To me, 5 grand a seat means "hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....justcan'tdoit!" (<--all one word) lol.

All of my seats in my theater cost less than 5 grand .. TOTAL. Yeah no way on that one, even though I think they are awesome. That will be one upgrade I can tell you I would never buy. I am just to frugal about some things, and for a single chair, the only way I will ever spend $5000 would be if the seat goes into space.

I hate buying cars. I mean I love new cars, but I'm so OCD when I have a new car I'm in wash mode every week. and it sucks in the winter. I get even more crazy. My wife hates me cause I since hers off each night cause of salt and then it's frozen like a popsicle! lol Then I hear the heat in the garage going cause she is thawing it out. Sucks washing a truck in the winter too when it's 32 out cause all my basement is in my garage now so i can't bucket wash in the garage right now! damn theatre! Damn new cars. that's why i like to drive a beater! lol

I have no idea what to do about chairs. they are either so expensive or cheap but crap. what are your plans?

I have Berkline Reno seats. There were 7 total with power recline and they were just under $4,000 for the set. They are very comfortable, and the power recline is excellent, but the tray tables and tray table holders were pretty crappy, which was one of the reasons I purchased that particular model. I found the price to be a little high and don't think they are the best looking seats either, but it doesn't matter that much. Comfort is the priority and I'm satisfied with that.

LOL @ into space! lolol...we have to be selective about expenditure. It's just good money management. My wife, however, does always have the upper hand with me when it comes to purchases. She's not a big shopper, but when she does eye something she likes, and I say "that's way too much money for clothes, she subtly reminds me about what any one piece of gear for the theater has cost me. I can honestly say, the theater seats will not be one of those items. Some seating is well priced, and well worth it when we consider the cost of other furniture.

My envy runs deep ***side eye glare** lol... Such prices are "wow"-inducing.

Cars should be the least flashy things in our lives. My car is pushing 140k miles on it, and I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off. Earlier in 2014, I was looking at a Tesla--this theater actually blocked that from happening, by drawing out so long. But I'm glad it did. I would have spent a LOT of money on a vehicle.

I'm going with the Fusion Jives. I've heard great things about them.

Those really are some comfortable chairs. I remember Jaimie and I talking about them after we got in the car leaving your place back in 2013. When we sat down in those chairs, we just....sunk into the seat. Very, very relaxing.

Screen delivery has been confirmed for Friday afternoon. So I'll probably be doing some installation work on Saturday afternoon to include the screenwall and the projector pipe. Not sure the timeline on the rear row booster seats yet! heh

Yes. The CenterStage XD material. This may still change in the future at some point but for now should work just fine! Now I just need to find someone local to buy my old scope screen!

just a quick question. not cause i'm picking but cause i don't know. i'm still not in screen mode. . .

why the xd vs 4k material? is it due to the light output of ur projector and needing the extra brightness of the screen for proper big brightness? or another reason?

thanks!

The gain on the Seymour UF material is a lot lower, and the screen size is large for the brightness of my projector in it's proper color calibrated settings. Plus, I don't even have a 4K projector, and currently, the SMX screen I have gives me a perfectly sharp and bright picture, so something which is very similar will provide me with similar results. I had said several times that I was very interested in Falcon's Horizon material, since reviews of it have been excellent and his gain was very close to his normal material (Around an even 1.0) but he was backed up time-wise with lots of orders from the holiday period. I've seen plenty of screens which use the standard HD woven materials look great when an image is projected on them from standard seating distances. As I've said, my SMX screen looks excellent, and I'm perfectly happy with the image on it, I just wanted to change the format. Sure, if I turn on all the lights and walk up near the screen I can see the weave on it, but during a movie you can't see it at all, so that did not factor into my decision. I may move toward 4K in the future, and it may be necessary to change the material later, but by then there could be even more choices too. I've talked with Snickers at length about his material as we've met several times and he is local, and I will probably even see him tomorrow as I convinced my neighbor to install a projector and buy a screen from him (Falcon) which should be delivered/installed tomorrow. So I'm sure we'll talk about it some more!

Weekend Plans:
Today:
1) Receive new screen!

Saturday:
1) Take down projector, replace down pipe (around 9" long, +/- 0.5") with 6" pipe (Acquiring today) Why am I doing this? Because now that I don't need to change the projector zoom for a CIH setup, the downpipe can be shortened and the projector placed closer to the ceiling. This allows more head clearance with the theater as is, but also would be necessary if I am raising the rear seats
2) Construct Chair Riser. This will be a platform to place under the rear row of seats to give them a little boost. I will likely use 2x4s with 3/4" ply on the top to make a box (with no bottom) approximately 127" wide by 30.5" deep. I have also found some nice black faux leather which matches my chairs which I will wrap it with to give the appearance of the chairs just being taller. I don't need to cover the bottom completely, however the top will be completely covered so when the chairs recline, etc you see black leather under them. It is vinyl though, so cleaning will be easy. I ordered this yesterday and should receive this next week.
3) Replace screen : This should be straight-forward. The mounting should be pretty simple as it is pretty much floor to ceiling in from my stage to soffit. The only possible issues that could come up are that the friction-fit panels on the sides might not friction fit side to side anymore. The difference between the width of the frame is less than 1" so no changes may be necessary, but if so, I will probably just add some rubber weather stripping down the sides of them (Like under my door) which would be invisible to give it a little extra width. I have the materials already for this so it will just be done as needed. I will show in detail any changes I make and how I do it. For the height, there should be about 0.5" of height above the height of the screen frame itself so I will initially set it on the floor and insert spaces as needed, then move the "goalpost" crossbeam up with the Zbar behind the screen to make sure it is actually hanging vs just sitting on the floor. Visually, the gap on the bottom will be invisible due to the carpet and padding sloping down directly under the screen and it will actually be "hanging" even if it doesn't appear so.
4) Meet with neighbor and Snickers to put up their screen!

Next week plans:
1) Wrap chair platform. (Vinyl won't arrive until then)

Either tomorrow or Monday will be a huge update with lots of pictures. I've done most of the work already (Other than the chair boosters, which I will probably delay until next weekend) and taken a lot of pictures during the process. Was fun to help the neighbor and Snickers a bit today as well to finish his goalposts and hang his new Falcon screen. Though Rich put the Falcon screen together, I watched him do it, so now I've seen up close and personal an SMX, a Seymour, and a Falcon screen put together! Both the Falcon and the Seymour screens were a lot easier to assemble vs the SMX, which is why I haven't taken mine apart yet. I'm sure if someone buys it from me they will have to break it down to move it but maybe if they have a big truck they will opt not to. Of course I'd have to store it until then!

Due to the screen format change, I had to modify my own goalposts today which required some more black paint work, so right now paint is drying before I finish. Exactly how I am hanging this screen is going to be.... tricky. I have measured several times now and am still in the process of praying it will work right. Can't do it until paint is dry though, so until then....
