Omaha Theater #5 was hacked last week

My first experience with anything like this. My wife and I were watching Love Actually (cannot believe that is Rick from The Walking Dead in there!)

Halfway through the movie the picture goes black. I told my wife that I probably messed something up when I was loading in the bluray but nope, someone had hacked in and was setting up their own administrator account, changing my passwords, etc.

I unplugged the HTPC from the network and spent yesterday trying to undo the damages, it turns out they have had access since Thursday night and who knows what they have done. I do know they got my visa# from browser history or something and had already put in a charge through that, the bank has removed it and shut down the card but what a pain.

All of this is my own stupid fault, I had enabled remote access and port forwarding thinking it would be handy to have HTPC access from my tablet while traveling. BAD IDEA...

The silver lining is that I'm going to pick up a new SSD, install fresh windows, reload everything and finally upgrade to the new XBMC, now named Kodi. Once that is done I'll clone the new build on top of the hacked SSD and will have a nice backup.

That sucks man. More reasons I can find these days to not have my house automated too much or have connectivity outside of the home

I've been putting some time in on the pinball cabinet lately. All of the buttons and toys are in place and wired up.

I made a little platform for the pin related bobbleheads to sit on, then routed in slots to mount the strobes.

Got the backbox mounted and the bobbles and plexi in place.

Tested it out today playing a little Pinbot. The DMD and speaker panel are next then I can mount the main playfield and work on bezels.

Awesome job on the HT man! Looks fantastic!! Good to see another successful Nebraska build! Hoping to add mine to the completed list soon. Been busy but back at it. Bummer on the hack. Hope you can get everything straightened out soon.

"Nick, what did your dad get done in the movie room tonight?" "Nothin', he just went down there and stared again".

Bought one of the Sam's Club "vintage" candy dispensers on closeout today. I can't remember if it was Desertdome or NicktheGreat that told me about these things, or if I just read about them here on the theater accessory sub forum.

Glad to see you got it! I'd sworn I'd seen one in our local store, but every time we go in since we spoke, they aren't in there.

Glad your quest is complete!

Woolly and I pre-ordered some 1099 kits and they were received last week. We started working on them and he has been doing a lot of the heavy lifting. I think they are going to be a great upgrade from my current L/C/R's!

Nice! Who did the soldering? I just received a package with the Classix II's today from Erich. I might have to take a look at your x-overs.

I should have the CAB's close to being finished Saturday and ready for driver and XO install

When we get these speakers finished up your invited for a demo at my theater. I wanted to have a movie night like Chris does but on a Saturday night. Burgers, Brats, Beers and a movie.

The plan was for Woolly and I to work on it all together. Woolly got all his stuff a day or two before me and was so excited he couldn't wait. So he did all of his alone and I worked on mine alone. Hopefully when the duratex comes in we get back on track and finish everything together!

Speakers complete! Woolly probably did 80% of the work. They look great. I can't wait to get them in place and get an audyssey run on them. I'm hoping to eventually lure Archaea and Desertdome over to run a full calibration and have some barbecue and watch a movie.
