ive spent more time reading everyone elses threads so heres some info as i get going. as ive said before my room is finished so I will be starting demo shortly after thanksgiving. Its my turn in the 3 year rotation for the family gathering and i dont want to have a freshly torn apart room when the fam comes to town. Awhile back Big stopped by and let me know what decisions I had to make. The room is dedicated so no windows to contend with. The new walls will go up clips and channel and DD with GG. The plan is for 2 rows 4 wide, second row riser, backer boxes for the lights. screen wall will be a false wall and house the screen and speakers. the room is next to the utility room which contains the distribution for the home's cat 5 and coax so the theater sources and components will be housed there. In the meantime I will be ordering all the materials I can monthly (clips, railings, backer boxes, wiring etc) to have them on hand by demo time to at least go from walls down to walls back up with out having to wait for materials.

yep definetly affected the plan and gave me ideas to work with. and if he hadnt come out I would have done something that I thought would deaden sound that actually would have made it worse (just slapped green glue and drywall on the existing dryall which now i know is useless without being decoupled) so Ive already saved time and wasted money and an "i did it wrong" talk with the wife as to why im buying more drywall and pulling down what i just put up and painted.
