I'm waiting for a review of stuffing fabric into the track system and getting everything to look just right.

Jason and I used the track for Chad's build when we did it a few years back. It's not too bad. I went this route for two reasons. I wanted the flexibility of changing the fabric is I hate it or got tired of it (also a selling point with buyers if it ever comes to that) and that I had a lot of staple pulls in my last home built. I know if I probably reduced the air pressure that may have fixed that. I've already used a couple of different tools to see what I want to use when its time, so I'm prepared. I think one thing that would have helped in this case that would be lesson learned would have been to offset the track under the soffit away from the wall maybe an inch or so. Getting in there may be a pain and the offset would have helped and would have been covered by molding away.

We'll soon find out! Now waiting on my damn doorknobs so I can figure that out!

Tonight we moved all the furniture and tossed out the remaining trash, or shall I say the trash I already generated. More trash to come I'm sure. Ready to go for Monday's basement engineered hardware fiasco. I hope this company has no issues and shows up. I'll update you guys then.

Just saw an email, flooring guys arrive between 11:00 and 1:00. Fingers crossed.

The team won the Converse Elite Invitational championship this weekend in the ATL, so there's a plus for being gone for a couple of days.

Quick update:

Floor looks great, except for on thing....it's the wrong floor! Not sure what happened, but she ordered the wrong floor and I picked it up and signed for it not even thinking about it. The floor I picked was darker, a wider board with beveled edges, not a butt joint. I talked to the manager at HD and they'll either tear it out and start again (the have enough of the flooring from another store), but it'll have to get delivered and sit and start again next week or go with this floor (its really not bad looking, just not what I picked) and they'll discount it. The other floor is more expensive, so it'll cost me a little more, but not much. I'll likely just keep this floor at this point, but waiting to hear back from the manager.

I see your pals are headed for the stairs, they must not like it. It looks fine but I don't know what you originally picked.

I think it looks good from what I can tell in the pictures. I recently replaced the flooring in my basement with a luxury vinyl - I've got a bear for a family pet so needed something durable. We went with a dark brown to ease the transition to the cherry wood floors upstairs. Looks fantastic for the first 5 minutes after washing. The darker you go the more the dirt shows. Drives my wife absolutely crazy.

It was darker, but not real dark. The family mostly stays on the main floor, we don't hang out in the basement. Just my son, where he plays video games basically, but that'll probably change with all the changes and the theater room.

Still need to talk to HD today and see what they'll do. The installers just arrived to get their equipment, apparently they were going to get their tools since another crew would pull up the floor and install the new one, but I told them to leave it and continue the install.

What is this patience with which you speak of? Lol. Don't blame you. It looks good as is but I understand how annoying something like that is.

I would have probably done the same thing... especially with the $600 credit.
The one you picked looks great, but what got installed is definitely not bad at all.

this is funny to me.......I'm a hardwood installer for 40yrs come July
If I'm reading this right you ordered a different floor.
YOU picked up the floor and no one looked at the floor to see if it was the right one.
You loaded and unloaded 62 ctns and never checked the flooring and never opened a box to see how it would look with your finishes.
and Home Depot is going to give you a credit.
As an installer I always ask if this is the right floor before I install, but in your case seeing the flooring was there I would have
assumed somebody already checked it.
Good for you they're giving you a credit, its their mistake no one checked the numbers on the box.

I think the floor looks great, as does the theater, another good job Bud

Pergo floors?

I asked if I needed to open the boxes to acclimation purposes, they said no. Pretty sure if I opened the boxes I would have thought something was up. You're right, I admit some responsibility. I met with the person in the flooring department in March and had a printout with my order and we went through it and crossed off a bunch of stuff, she kept saying "got it, got it" and called the special orders people a few times, sat on hold, etc. I had the same with me, so just never updated it, I guess.

We both win and lose. I get a credit, but for the floor I didn't pick. If I had them rip it out, it would have cost me more money since it was more expensive. They would have had to eat the costs of the first install and the second tear out. The didn't have to do that, but gave me a credit. It is what it is and I'll have to live with the decision even though I really wanted the other floor.

Is the fabric the final piece to your puzzle?

Gotta admit, I am always looking forward to your updates and can't wait until the final pictures are posted.

Last night I primed and painted the equipment closet and installed the rack. Got the screen temporarily installed. I'll pull the screen down when the carpet guys come tomorrow as well as get the framing stuff out of the theater room. Equipment installed and hookups underway. Floor is almost completed, minus the shoe molding, which I'll do.

Here's a shot of the rack. Still unfinished, need to put in the power conditioner, PS4, my Apple router and Drobo 5N2 (whenever it gets here). Also need to order some blanks.

Special thanks to Informed Logic here in Knoxville for their help. I purchased some equipment through them, shelves and they did the heavy lift on the rack equipment install and connections for Directv and my network.

More drama from HD. The installers were suppose to be here between 9:00 and 11:00 and were a no show. I call and find out they heard back from HD that they cancelled the installation because it needed a remeasure. Well, they measured the HT twice already, I don't know why this is so freakinn' difficult. I called to talk to the manager who's not there and get ahold of a different manager and gave him an earful. Waiting for the call back. If I don't hear from him by 1:00 I'm heading over there and will go ballistic.

That sucks. Man I'm fortunate. My HD is full of retired folks that work because they enjoy the interaction with people. They have all the time in the world for you and make sure the job is done right. I even had someone from the rental shop drive out to my acreage when the power rake quit.

Well, they said it needed a remeasure and wanted to charge me again. I got hot on the phone and hung up, went down to HG and canceled the order. I went to the local guy, picked out carpet in 5 minutes measure Monday or Tuesday, two weeks for install. I guess if my seats come today, they'll sit in boxes in the basement for two weeks.

The person at HD I dealt with knows the situation - I have the measurement paper that says they ordered 12x13 foot carpet for a 4x13 stage, but he says the installers won't do it without a measurement. The guy who measured it or the company he works for should have record of two measurements, it's all electronic. So much for customer service and doing the right thing. I'm soooooo done with incompetence.

Oh and the DirectV guy never came back yesterday, he was here Wednesday arguing with someone he works with that screwed up my order on the phone. They deleted the work order instead of updating it and he said he'd be back Thursday and never bothered to show. I don't understand how some of these companies make money.
