As a quick substitute, In the drop ceiling aisle your Home Depot may stock the the 2x4 compressed fiberglass ceiling panels. You can usually buy a single. It feels like OC703, it's yellow compressed fiberglass with a white vinyl face, put the face toward the wood. If you want thicker peel off the vinyl and stack them.

I should be able to help you out with some ductliner. It's not name-brand linacoustic. Are you coming to Atlanta any time soon? (Feel free to PM me)

I'll take a look. I still have some 2" material from Dennis, not sure that'll work though. The projector is very quiet, it's the cool cube that makes a ton of noise.

Thanks, I think that would be fine considering what I'm using it for. Not sure at this point what the basketball schedule looks like. They're finalizing the schedule for next month soon, so I'll let you know. Appreciate it.

I did the "L" molding tonight and start the crown under the soffit. I don't have any pictures though. I'll post them when I'm done. My daughter helped some, then we watched "School of Rock". Had not seen it in a while. A buddy from work is sharing his Plex library with me, so we watched it and had some laughs.

This is the second instance I recall of that system being noisey. I had problems with it on my Ohio build project and the recommendation by the vendor was to get a fan speed control and run it slower. My recommendation to Dennis would be spec a different fan. The problem I was having is the fan moves too much air and you can hear buffeting/air turbulence

I think there are two settings are far as speed control, but have not really played with it you. Since I don't have the projector box done, no real need to have it running. The temp probe helps, so it only kicks on when it needs to. I'm hoping that have the fan running and the system pulling air from the box may be enough to keep it from going on at all, but sort of doubt it. We'll soon find out.

Bud, do you have any other pictures of your hushbox? It looks from the pictures like you were pretty straightforward with construction - MDF, white wood, probably brads and glue, just butt joints and presumably wood-filler and paint. Is all that true? I see the cool cube mounted inside, and I see the duct leading out(?) - what about intake?

Yes, all of that is true. I still have to complete it, but will take some pictures. I haven't connected the duct to the return yet on the inside of the box, bit from the box to the return is completed in the soffit. It'll be pretty straightforward to finish it out and I don't am not traveling this weekend, so that's on my list get done.

As i recall, it was the last thing I finished for the last theater. I've got some tricks up my sleeve for this one as well if it all plays out correctly.

Quick update.

Spent a chunk of Saturday putting in the shoe molding around the new wood floor. I wanted to get that done and start putting furniture back and get organized. Still have holes to fill and touch up work there.

On the theater side, I finished out the 2"crown molding under the soffit. I caulked joints and filled holes yesterday, so I need to do a little sanding tonight and touch up paint. I finally added some hooks onto the lower part of the projector box to hold in in place and I'll work on the front of the box in the next day or so. I also added the fabric to the top part of the side room door, which came out good, but I also need to figure out how to tie out the corners nicely where the track doesn't continue.

Carpet tomorrow! Woohoo! (Did I just jinx myself?)

Bud

Couple of quick shots. Did some touch up work before the carpet is going in, wanted to make sure I didn't drop a bucket of paint on it or down the stairs like I did last time. I assume I'll have touchup work after the carpet install, but at least I got most of what I knew I had to do done, including the 2" crown and the "L" molding holes and joints around the soffit. One or two joints aren't great, but I can always redo them later if I'm not happy with them. Here's a shot of the front (er, back) of the rack with its blanks in. Still missing - one PS4 Pro. Still needing work - Crestron programming which should start soon. Still to do, front of projector box (and pictures for HopefulFred) and fabric. And screen wall fabric. And doorknobs.

Carpet installed! Looks a little lighter in the pictures. Seats setup (with and without removable armrests and dogs).

This is a better look at the carpet color, but still lighter than it is.

The space is coming along very nicely. I'm looking forward to getting an invite or inviting myself just to experience the couches since I've been considering some HT loveseats.

Well, thank you. Appreciate it. Still not quite ready, but close.

From a performance standpoint, I'm extremely happy. Love the JVC, it's bright, crisp and worthy. I ordered a few 4K BDs and even though its on e-shift, it's impressive. The audio is amazing. I've watched Fury Road about 50+ times (always on HBO) before the theater was functional. There were so many things I missed - whispers, clarity, etc. Really happy with everything - the soundproofing (DDWGG, doors, etc) works great, I was somewhat skeptical, but with almost everything complete there, it's amazing how quiet things are with the door shut.

Shifting all my BDs to Plex now that I have the NAS and that is so convenient from a media organization standpoint. Works really well.

Extremely happy with the performance of things.

Did a little more fabric when I had a chance this week. It was a busy one. Not going to be able to do anything this weekend either. I have the bottom of the theater entrance doors to complete and the little piece above the other door. I can then get the knobs on. From there I'll go ahead and do the screen, thinking I'm just going to build panels since it'll be easy.
