Thank you very much all my AVS buddies! Oh boy!, what a journey it was (and still is, since a HT is never REALLY finished wink.gif )

I've tweaked the PJ and amp a little more today to play nice together and show a more beautifull picture. The DSTV HD PVR satellite TV looks SO nice, much better than I could ever imagined. The SD channels look like DVD and the HD channels almost like Blu-ray.

Here is a pic of my rack as it's now. From top to bottom: DSTV PVR, Yamaha RX-A3010, a little Sansui 7" LCD monitor and Harmony 900 remote next to it as well as other remotes, Yamaha BD-S671 BD player, open rack for PS3 (will get later), my trusty old PS2, Pyle AMP for front presence speakers, a bigger Pyle AMP for the Aura bass shakers in the chairs and below it is the selector for the different chairs' shakers, to switch individual chairs on or off. The two big white switches below the selector are the two main powerline switches that comes into the HT. The 3 little switches next to them are for the fresh air inlet aircon and for a flourecent light in the equipment room. Lastly is the UPS for the Panasonic PT-AE8000 projector.

I must still do the wire management and neaten everything up behind the equipment redface.gif Luckily you don't see any wires behind the eq. without the camera flash. smile.gif

I'll take some pics of the completed room as well as screenshots when I have some time. Thank you once again for all the great wishes and compliments - everything is so appreciated. biggrin.gif

Till later,

Will

Goed gedoen.

The rack looks nice and trust me you will have plenty of time to do wire management should you so choose. I just have never chosen to do so and mine still looks like a rats nest, but I'm really OK with that. biggrin.gif The only sad thing is that your location makes it really hard for me to just drop in and pay you a visit.

Again well done, you have a great space, now go enjoy it!

Good work, I am impressed with your work.

One question: How did you affix the fabric to your top & bottom masks? It seems to me that AL and Correx aren't the easiest things to secure fabric to.

Thanks!

Hi guys, thank you very much. I'm really enjoying the HT immensly. My little girl LOVES the big "TV". I told her that there's an elf living in the PJ and he shines his torch onto the screen. biggrin.gif

Paul, I've used spay-on glue on the corex and velvet - works like a charm. Just make sure to clean the corex before using the glue, 'cause it sucks dust like nothing else!

Dirkie, dalk gouer as wat jy dink!

Hi guys, I'm still alive!

I'm enjoying my HT very much. I got myself 3 pairs of Playstation 3D glasses and they work very well with the Panasonic 8K. I haven't t watched a 3D movie yet, but the 3D files and trailers I've downloaded looks great.

I must still post my final pics of the HT, but I managed to loose my tripod's quick release shoe, so I can't mount my camera to take longer exposure pics.

Till later,

Will

Hi guys!! I stand with a red face redface.gif in front of you. I still haven't taken those final pics. One thing I can say is that I LOVE MY HT VERY, VERY MUCH! biggrin.gif
There is one or two things I still want to do or change, but at this time it's not a big priority. The few of my friends that saw the HT in action, was vey impressed.

I'll try to take some pics soon.

Till later

Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. Yes I am still alive and kicking. The African sun is just killing us this summer.

Here's the final pics of the HT as promised (more than a year ago ! ) I just love my HT and spend nearly every night watching something there. I had some bad luck with a lightning strike that hit near my home and came into the HT through ONE HDMI. Everything is isolated except my Satelite decoder. The strike went through the decoder and into my amp, vrying its HDMI board, spread from there into my PJ, killing its board and also my PS3.
BIG DAMAGE!!

Luckily my insurance paid most of the damage but I was without a PJ for about 3 months . All is well now.

Now let's see if I still remember how to post pics

Here is the shot entering the HT:

Here's the media rack. I am slowly replacing some of the DVD's for Blu's:

Here's the equipment rack (the PS2 must be removed - we don't use it any more)

The colours are not correct in these pics.

Without the flash:

This is one of my favourite HT's on AVS. I'm well impressed with the end result considering you spent a fraction of the typical AVS budget on your room.

All the pictures you shared from the work in progress have given me a few ideas for my soon to be started project.

Enjoy your HT to the fullest, you deserve it.

Will, I have to take my hat off to you sir. Great job. I read the whole thread and enjoyed your progress. I think what makes this build really impressive is that you don’t have a Home-depot or Lowes down the road to get whatever you need for construction. Having grown up in SA and now living in the States I can appreciate how long the wait must have been for some of your components.
When it comes to HT, we are spoilt for choice in the US and of course the cost of goodies here makes some of friends back in SA green with envy.

Dit was ok lekker om weer n bietjie Afrikaans te lees

Hello there mate. Finished photos look great. Love the texture on tbe walls. Don't worry about the delay. ...my finished photos promise came well over a year ago. And now I'm about to go tbe dual projection setup for 3d. So the theatre really isn't finished. There is always something. Good to hear you are using your room a lot. So nice to have a dedicated room. My son and I use our room most every day...whether it be a movie or star wars rebels / clone wars episodes. Best lifestyle investment ever.

Bobbejaan, 1st and foremost, absolutely spectacular theater. 2ndly, before I confess to robbing you, please remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It was really a 2nd rate, 2 bit robbery as well, so nothing at all really to get upset about, but I still feel the need to confess(read brag) none the less.

I loved that ticket booth so much, I just had to steal it, well, clone it actually.

PRE CLONED WALL

POST CLONED WALL

Granted, it's just a picture. Actually, it's picture OF of picture. but it still looks cool as hell hehehe

Thank you sir! This is I believe an historic occasion. It is the 1st EVER instance of anyone actually file sharing a part of their HOME THEATER!!!

groete,

And to my old buds Dingaling and RT, I'm so glad to hear form you guys! I'm glad to hear you can still speak Afrikaans, RT.

I wish I could visit, that would be great.

Hi there Will. You're always welcome to visit. Make it during the rugby and we can sample some beers and watch the Wallabies probably win. My faith has been shaken. Like others here, I do take off my hat to you for your theatre. Sourcing materials for construction can be a little challenging and a lot expensive down under but nothing compared to your locale. The photos prove not only your skills but also your resourcefulness. Congratulations mate! I still check in every now and then. In the mean time, thanks for the journey my fellow southern hemisphereon. Keep in touch! Greg.
