Yes I bought the porter cable us58.

The cheapest extra long handles I found are from Emtek. They are not cheap though at more than $100. I have thought about just buying the regular width and splicing it. I would think the metal should be easily sourced and then you just need to spot weld it together. My dad is a much better welder than me so I would ask him to do it. Still looking into it.

I also told them to come look at the job first, or I'd send pictures... But he was confident in his price. His workers apparently don't agree! How do you tip when the workers said the job was bid 20% of what it should cost?!

They put the middle piece down first, as you can see in the picture. They misaligned and cut a few things but it worked out in the end.

LL

I originally put a few pieces of trim down in the beginning, it didnt present any issues. And it worked better that there was no trim for some of the other areas. Ill put all the trim later

LL

I wanted them to to the stage first to make sure that was perfect

LL

LL

LL

They then realized they did a horrible cut and the stage needed to have seams. So they moved onto the back steps. Because of the angle there is a lot of cuts on this and patches but it came out pretty good. You cant see the seams but if you look close you can see where you cant perfectly match. At this point were starting to go crazy looking at the pattern but when you stand back it all looks great

LL

Heres their bad cut that would later need to be seamed on teh stage. Again, they just moved to the riser at this point.

LL

LL

LL

The front was aligned and the seam put in

And the final pics!

LL

Because of that bad cut the left side of the stage is a 2 inch wide seams, made out of like 8 inch long pieces. So its like 5 pieces but it still came out fine. You cant really tell

LL

The riser

LL

The a$$holes thought you could lean against anything with their elbow! Now I have to fix my one completed column! It was the thing stick where the speaker points

LL

Stage

LL

From the door

LL

This is stage corner column. If you remember I had 3/4inch wood under it to allow it to be removed. I painted them black last night and you cant even tell its there

Thanks! Its getting there. I had to vac the carpet up, it had so much debris and dust on it. Its crazy that I thought my paint was pure black and so dark, yet the carpet is a darker black. That or its just because its less flat.

On another note, we were motivated and kept going. We did four more columns and fixed the broken one. Pics uploading now smile.gif

Here pics of the back with all the columns wrapped in fabric.

LL

I fixed the column that carpet guy broke. Also, I wired in the two wide speakers. The only speakers that arent in right now are the second sub, and the left/right channel speakers. I have to build two boxes to elevate them ten inches (sunday!)

LL

The other front column

Simply stunning. What a great looking room. I bet its crazy to look back earlier in the thread and remember the different stages and how far you've come.

This is one of the cool things about documenting a build, IMO.

I know all about nearing the end. Just wrapped up my space yesterday. I few odds and ends left but the bulk is done. I love that carpet and the color scheme. The smell of new carpet puts me on cloud 9. Your space is nice and really elegant..

From a Giants fan to a Skins fan good job biggrin.gif

I went to Home Depot this morning and explored my options for shelving. I wanted an equipment rack but I think this is one of the areas I could save money. In the end I found some steel shelves that just fit my closet. I had to take a break to read some manuals so heres some quick pics. The equipment is going in and getting setup!!

LL

I left a big gap in the bottom because thats where I crawl through to get to the back. Its pretty easy and I still have room to mostly stand in the back.

Also, our wiring idea of putting all the wires on a board, and having them be in the order they are on the receiver was clutch! It took two seconds to put all the speaker wires in!

First, heres the two new toys. The Denon 4520 and DBT3313 blu ray player with the Denon Link connection smile.gif

LL

And here is the first batch of things that got thrown on the shelves.

LL

Ok, im going back in the hole, time to keep wiring up everything

Tonys on the way over!! That means its time to make big progress!

I got all the electronics hooked up today. I have a little learning curve on the Denon 4520 and how to hook up another receiver to power the 10th and 11th channel. I had blu rays and tv shinning on the black wall with sound though.

Tonight I fix the fabric around the center channel and add the foam back, from having had it horizontally originally.

Build two ten inches boxes with sand to elevate the left and right channel speaker.

and...

wait for it..

PUT THE SCREEN TOGETHER!!!

Then tomorrow the cineslide!

Then...well lets be real we'll probably put in the first row of chairs. At some point you just gotta sit back and enjoy what you built smile.gif
