Anyone knows of a simple/cheap device to extend infrared? I have a Comcast STB about 75 feet from the TV fed using 5x RG59 cables and that works great. Now I would like to be able to change channels while in front of the TV. Any suggestions. Ideally it would use cat5 cable and cost under $50. I looked on eBay and see a few devices that use 3.5mm cables. I don't need multiple anything just 1 IR in and 1 IR out.

I have one of these:

I spliced in an rj45 jack and extend the IR eye about 40 ft over regular cat5 cable. It works very well. No issues whatsoever.

I use this Xantech kit:

It uses RG6 rather than Cat5 though.

I used this system:

It doesn't come as a kit, so you have to buy the IR repeater and power supply separately. I used cat 6 to wire my system up.
